If you want to upgrade to a tapered thru axle fork on a non tapered frame, this is all you need! Great product, after watching several videos, reasoning many articles. This was the best around!

This is exactly what you need if you have a straight steerer "internal cup" headset to accept a tapered fork. Just make sure to measure the I.D. of your steerer.

This is a nice headset especially for the price. I was able to use a tapered fork in a Trek straight headset frame. The bonus was that it came with an adapter for the old straight 1 1/8 fork so I can switch between two different fork sizes without having to change to a different headset.

I bought this headset, specifically, as I wanted to run a tapered fork, 1 1/8 to 1 1/2", in a 44mm ID head tube. This did exactly that. The lower cup is an external cup and houses a larger bearing. It is branded Risk, which is ominous, but maybe cool, too.Quality seems alright. The aluminum parts are on par with other lower-end FSA headsets I've used. Not quite Cane Creek level. The bearings are where the money is saved. They are stainless cartridge bearings but the dust seal is only pushed in place. Not sealed nearly as well as name brand bearings.I've put about 100 miles on the bike with this headset, over the past few days and it's worked out really well.If you want to install a tapered fork in a sufficiently sized head tube, this will do the trick.

I bought this primarily for my rockhopper which comes with a straight steerer fork tube. I wanted to have the ability to add a more modern fork and new forks come in 1.5. I was able to go from 1 1/8 to 1.5 on the bottom set. Now my Fox 34 fits nicely. The bottom headset adds about 10mm but the bearings that come with it are sealed and looks nice. You also have the ability to switch back and forth between straight and tappered by a little adapter ring that is included.
