Works great, but front LEDs can't be turned off despite other models with scarcely any price difference having that feature. Attached pic is of the edge of a dime.

Really fun tool to use for examining plants for tiny bugs you can not see with the naked eye, I can see if I am controlling the spider mites and if I need to spray again, also if you have a splinter that you can not see this will make it real easy. the kids love it also for looking at bugs and leaves at 300 times mag. great value for the money.

A couple of years later, it's outstanding for what it is. No, as others have said it isn't a lab quality instrument or professional chip makers portable microscope. It is a heckIng lot of fun for hobbies and elementary to high school work, though. I recently decided to culture fairy shrimp, daphnia and moina and this allowed me to peer into those cultures to determine exactly when hatching had or had not yet occurred. Awesome!I got this to supplement distance learning for my son and daughter. Ok, Ok, I admit I also thought it would be pretty cool! It was a nice little tech toy that I could afford and was just useful enough to keep my wife from complaining about my buying it. It works great, better than I expected and not as well as I had dreamed. I would really like to be able to get a good look at cells with it, but I don't think that's within the abilities of this microscope. What it does do very well is the level just below that. The video is very good quality for me on my laptop. I do have a capable machine, with discrete graphics card and 12 core processor, but that should have limited effect on these results. Fibers of cloth, details on coins, and ability to view printed letters just at the level where you begin to see dots are the level where this microscope does its best. My kids are excited and impressed with it right out of the box and without any actual thought and preparation into using it to learn anything important ;) The potential of using it with my android phone is also exciting, though I don't have a USB C to B or whatever the name of the adapter needed is. They cost less than $10 though, so I'll be getting one of those soon. I have a OnePlus bought from the company and not a carrier, and I'm pretty good with tech (bachelor's degree in CIS) so am confident that it will work this way. I see complaints that it isn't working with various phones, but limits placed by US carriers and manufacturers could be the cause of most of those issues, user error likely a factor in the rest. Any problems I had in the past were 80% or more due to carrier restrictions on devices, 15% my own mistakes, and 5% manufacturer limits. With a lot of time and effort into research, most of these can be overcome. Just some advice for those having problems with use with android phones. iOs isn't going to work with this model unless you're going to write your own software, the app is only for wifi capable models, which this is not. I do have a lightning to USB connector, so will test it on my Ipad Pro one of these days...it might work, who knows, but I wouldn't spend the time to write software to make it work myself. I'm just not that great at programming and it would take me so long to accomplish it that the microscope would probably disintegrate over time before I finished-if you need this ability using iOS, you would be best off with the wifi capable version.

not bad for quality. I wish I have bought the stand with it. it vibrate a lot when taking closer image so cannot take pic in the right time. need both the object and the microscope camera steady in order to get good quality pictures.

Had major difficulty getting it to work as portable handheld microscope. Worked great using PC with no challenge connecting and seeing it up there but I purchased it specifically for its portability. First I needed to purchase an OTG cable to connect microscope with handheld device - no problem only $6 on Amazon - then I needed to buy a new phone or tablet - had been procrastinating on replacing 5 y.o. cracked screen phone so this motivated me to do so, but there's no concrete specifics to be found about which phone/tablet will work aside from the best apple products. I'm an older lady who's used to android devices and on my disability income I couldn't afford the newest apple device anyway. Finally chose the J3 android model and was elated to find it compatible with the app. So after all that I am very happy with this microscope. I am able to view the trichomes on my plants through video and still shots, save them, share them, etc. Takes a bit if practice to dial in on what i wanted to view but before long I became pretty good with it. The resolution could be better but for the price this is perfect for my needs! Also it's a lot of fun to view all sorts of other things like skin, hair strands, food crumbs, anything and everything.

I'm a dermatologist and i use this in my practice to analyze moles, pigmentation and scalp disorders. It works great, software was easy to download and functions very well on my Mac iOS13 and i save high resolution images without a problem. I love this, it's my best tool in my practice and is a lot cheaper than a dermatoscope

Wow, this thing is a hoot! I purchased this for inspecting my flowers. For years I have been using 20-60 power jeweler's loupe's. I attached a few pics of some trichomes to my review. I didn't use a stand, I held it against the plant. Any movement using in this manner might result in a blur. For example I have fans blowing on my plants. Considering those circumstances, look how awesome this pics are. I only had it at 150 Magnification too. I didn't buy it as a toy, I purchased this as a tool. BUT, I have been running around all day with it plugged into my phone looking at everything. This thing is so much fun! Also a great asset to any grower. Also keep in mind if you plan on using this on your phone remember to buy an adapter. Works great on my Galaxy S8 Plus and my PC.I'll be saving up for the Hi Res one. Until then, I love this thing.

Does not work on iOS. There is no iOS software download on their website. I plugged it into my iPad Pro with the Apple USB Camera-to-Lighning adapter, and I got a message on the iPad that it cannot be used because it draws too much power. I actually have an older model hooked to my computer: I only bought this one for the advertised iOS functionality.

I use this at work on a daily basis for calibration of high end printing equipment. However, we are constantly finding other uses for this tool. Since our children are curious about the world, I got one as a gift this year for Christmas. On the large screen of the laptop, I can show them how clothes are weaved or zoom on my skin for the ridges in my finger print. We also look at different materials like wodd or painted metal.A powerful zoom gets in up to 250 times magnification. At work, we are able to take video and snapshots of work being done for further analysis by depot level technicians. Great buy for the technician, the hobbist, or whoever wants to see small things in the world.
