These switches look unlike the usual stuff with threads & nuts & paddles. They are fairly big, but look clean and professional. They work just as nice as they look!

These switches worked well for a 20 amp max 12v dc application. I used a step bit to cut the hole for these and they fit fine with a little caulk to anchor them so I didn’t use the shrouds they came with. If the manufacturer is listening, I would like to find a similar 30 amp or higher switch I could use in higher amp circuits without needing a switching relay.

My package arrived quickly, but, it contained only the "shells" (mounting adaptors) and wires (not attached). The switches were missing! Luckily I had ordered switches in different LED colors from another seller, and those did arrive. Amazon is sending out a replacement package at which time of arrival I am to return any excess pieces - basically the shells and wires from the replacement package. Rather a "hassle", but, it will have to do.As for the item itself: The shells (adaptors) are a very useful part, as they conveniently fit into a cigarette lighter hole. Well.... actually they are a bit too big for the former cigarette lighter holes in my car, so, a bit of careful enlarging of the existing hole will need to be done. Hopefully the step drill bit I just bought will do the trick. This will be a 2 person job: Me to drill, and my daughter to run the shop vac to hopefully pick up all the filings B4 they get into the carpet. (Masking tape and a bunch of old newspaper would work, too.)A large taper reamer would also work. ($$) A file would work, but in steel (in this case) it would be slow work, and with a file it is tough to keep the hole truly round. The seller identifying these as "shells" instead of "switch mounting adaptors" or a similar designation made them quite hard to find, and then only by chance. I'd searched Amazon for hours -- these finally came up as a "suggested" item.Assuming the seller would be competitive on the switch pricing, the price on the shells is apparently a function of low sales quantity and few alternate sources, coupled with considerable need for such an item. (I did find one, with lower / suspect ratings / reviews of the switches and their wiring.)Unfortunately, the seller does not offer other color or switch options. (A high reliability push switch would be nice, for example, and so would other colors in the switch style supplied. As it was, I ordered other switches from other suppliers.) The seller also does not offer the shells separately. Boo! Hiss! This all helps drive the price up and sales quantity down. Marketed correctly, these "shells" (adaptors!!) should not cost over $5 for a pack of 5."Waterproof?" is really not a factor in this instance - The switches are not described or expected to be waterproof, so I don't know why the rating questionnaire asked for such a rating.Suggestion for an enterprising vendor: Inexpensive illuminated switch that might mount in the same hole as this switch (or maybe the assembly), and which both displays power being available, and power switched to the load. For example, the small LED lights modestly any time power is present, then the entire rocker or button lights in the same color (would need to be translucent) when power is switched to the load. This would be great for "finding the switch" in the dark.
