The router works pretty well.. but.... I am suspicious of the antenna mounts. They don't seem very strong, and I would be really surprised if they are really "water resistant". I think I will run a bead of caulk around them before the first time they are exposed to rain.. but other than that, it seems to work. I read that it supports OpenWRT, but I haven't tried it yet.

I installed this on the side of my house to reach my garage for a doorbell camera. I really wasn't expecting this to have its own power over ethernet power block. This saves you from getting a POE switch and cuts the worry of trying to find a place to plug it in. I plugged it in at the existing switch and was able to simply run the ethernet wire up to the top of the house without having to worry about weather. It was able to transmit my signal to a little under an acre. That's amazing range and the speed didn't drop off at all. If you need something for outdoors, this is the one hands down.Grade: A+

Good outdoor AP with Wifi 6. You can also upgrade the antennas if you want some directional ones. The software was easy enough to set up, and the kit comes with the POE injector.

This is a fantastic outdoor WiFI AP. It has lightning protection and excellent range. The firmware is easy enough to configure. I prefer to load OpenWRT and it is compatible! You will need to go to the manufactures website to download an unlocked firmware version and then load the latest OpenWRT. I’m so happy they provided this!

I got the AX3000 CUDY Outdoor Access Point/Extender to test, and the first thing I noticed is that it's fairly large, measuring 14 inches tall with the antennas installed, 4 inches wide, and 2 inches thick. Given that it's designed for outdoor use, the size isn't surprising, and it's built quite well. There is a sealed compartment that hides the single RJ45 port. It also comes with mounting hardware (screws and a clamp) to attach it to a wall or pole. The access point is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) and includes a PoE adapter. Since it's meant for outdoor use, this setup works fine and requires one less wire. However, if you plan to use it in a different setup or need an extra RJ45 port, you might require a PoE switch. This access point supports mesh networking, so if you have a CUDY router, you can extend your network coverage even further. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11AX), providing better data rates and range, as long as you have a compatible AX receiver/device to take advantage of the full speed of Wi-Fi 6. The two antennas are removable, giving you the option to upgrade to higher-powered antennas if needed, though I haven’t tested this feature. As for its functionality, it works well. I don’t own any other CUDY products, so I set up the access point as an extender, and it effectively increased my Wi-Fi range. I mounted it in my garage, and I was able to get a strong signal even a block away (400–500 feet). I’m confident I could walk another block and still get a usable signal, as long as there are no major obstacles blocking it.Overall, the CUDY AX3000 access point is a solid device for improving network coverage. However, for the average home, it might be overkill compared to a standard mesh setup, unless you have a large property like a farm or estate. It’s best suited for commercial use when paired with a CUDY or high-end router and high-speed internet. Since I live in California, where we mostly get sunshine and not much rain or snow, I can't fully comment on its IP65 weatherproof rating. That said, the unit feels well-built and should withstand most weather conditions.

I've had a few Cudy products and they all seem to be good. I'm impressed so far. This Access Point can also act as a Router or Extender. The signal is great and love the POE option. It is OpenWrt compatible if you are an expert (search the Internet and you will find the firmware as it is not officially on the OpenWrt site yet).Cudy has all the original firmware on their website and they have great instructions if you want to go back to the OEM firmware.

The Cudy Outdoor AX3000 WiFi 6 Access Point is the Gandalf of internet connectivity. With IP65 weatherproofing, it laughs in the face of rain, snow, and possibly hurricanes. The external high-power antenna (that’s tech-speak for "really strong signal pushers") ensure you’re streaming cat videos in the farthest corner of your yard. It's faster than a caffeine-fueled squirrel. Support for 802.3at or 48~57V Passive PoE keeps your access point powered up like a tech-savvy Energizer bunny. Includes Lightning Protection, because getting struck by lightning is only cool if you’re Thor. Multiple devices can stream, surf, and game without engaging in a bandwidth tug-of-war.
