THESE GRIND VERY GOOD & SEEM TO LAST A LONG TIME. I USE THEM FOR BLENDING STEEL CORNERS & GRINDING MIG WELDS. THESE ARE 5", AND WILL NOT FIT 4 1/2" UNLESS YOU TAKE OFF THE SHEILD. PRICE SEEMS ABOUT FOR A QUALITY GRINDING WHEEL. I HAVE TRIED THE CHEAP SUPPOSEDLY CERAMIC VERSIONS OF THESE AND YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. THESE WERE $8.00, THE CHEAPIES WHERE $1.25. THEY SAY ZIRCONIA, WHICH I THINK IS ALUMINUM OXIDE, NOT CERAMIC.

I grabbed one as a novelty to try it out. Not as smoky and dusty as the fiberglass ones. Make sure you have a ⅞" protrusion seating into the depression on the back or you will strip out the plastic threads, as has happened to other reviewers.I have t decided if i'll buy more , as it's way more expensive than standard discs. Will have to see how long it lasts I guess, but It will probably be a one time experiment - at least till the price comes down by half...

Great stock removal, good durability if used for removing lots of metal like smoothing out welds or preping base metal for welding. Sharp edges and burr removal will eat this disc up fast though.

The backing is made from hemp. It's solid, and threaded, very convenient.It performs very well.Great quality, durable, strong.Made in Germany. High quality product.

Extremely difficult to install. Threads not cut correctly which will prevent this from ever being reinstalled again. I really wanted to try it so i forced it on. I reached out to the vendor and nothing. Crickets. Kind of disappointing. The wheel worked well as described but for the cost its really a shame i cannot mount the wheel again after i removed to use a second operations wheel. The wheel has a few minutes of use. I think the hemp idea is a non starter for me but the ability to use it for medium to fine with varied pressure was the reason i purchased it. So based on the cost of the wheel i would say its not worth the risk of no backup from the manufacturer.
