The weld holding the rounded part to the tongs came undone on my first melt with them. I was casting with aluminum and wasnt even at an orange glow on the crucible or the metal. This caused the crucible to fall out of the tongs. The crucible was over the furnace (off) when the tongs gave out, so it fell over the furnace instead of onto the floor (or my feet), but this ended up covering the entire inside of my furnace with molten aluminum.I am extremely dosappointed, as this didnt just result in needing a new set of tongs, but it also resulted in my inability to run my cast, a substantial loss of materials, and a horrible cleanup job.This EASILY could have resulted in injury. Had this not been literally my first cast, had I left these tongs sitting around before using them, or had I been using these improperly as a crucible lifter, I wouldnt leave such a bad review. However, the lack of quality on these when used properly is absolutely dangerous.
