Great jacket if you planning to visit or live in a colder place. It's well insulated and feels warm. The design is very thoughtful and practical. There is an elastic band around the waist in the jacket that wraps around the body and isolate environment to keep inside warm.

This jacket by Columbia is great for cold weather. It is thick, plush, and prevents cold weather from entering in with elastic wrist openings on the sleeves, as well as elastic around the hood and an elastic band around the waist area with the durable zipper going high up. The jacket is well made and durable, and comfortable to wear.The color is nice (I ordered the black and cream), and looks really good. In terms of warmth, it is amazing. It not only keeps the cold weather out, but also keeps the heat in. It's a really great jacket and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a warm jacket to keep their kids warm.

This review is for the Columbia Boys’ Arctic Blast II Jacket (Size - Large, Color - Black Dark Stone). I received a free taxable sample of this jacket to review in my search for a nice jacket my middle grader could use for activities in the snow.The jacket weighs 820 grams, and the body and lining are made out of 100% nylon and filled with 100% recycled polyester insulation sealed in quilted sections. The jacket measures 27” in length with a comfortable shoulder-to-shoulder width of 16” and a chest width of 18”. The sleeves are also fairly accommodating with a length of 22” (31” from between the shoulders plus sleeve) and average flat width of 7” before ending in the 5” wide elastic cuffs. There is a permanent hood extending about 10” above the jacket which can be shortened using a hook-and-loop closure on the back to keep the hood from falling too far over the face. Also adding to the comfort and seal of the hood are small sections of elastic edging to each side of the lower hood. There are five pockets with this jacket: two zippered side pockets; one hook-and-loop secured inside pocket along the placket; a zippered pocket along the left arm; and an open 8” x 5” mesh pocket on the lower inside right. The zippers used for the jacket and zippered pockets are standard metal zippers with metal zipper pulls running along standard plastic teeth. The action of the zippers is fairly smooth, and I like that there is a zipper guard along the main zipper which also helps to keep the inside of the jacket dry. Also helping to keep the jacket dry is the water-resistant shell and an elastic powder skirt on the bottom that uses silicone grippers to reduce movement. Overall quality and workmanship are decent as is typical with this brand, but I did notice a tuft of insulation sticking out one of the panels.As tested, this jacket worked great to keep my middle grader warm and dry during general snow activities such as snow play and snowboarding. The overall fit was good, and they liked the convenience of the pocket on the left hand which allowed them to swipe their snow pass at the gate instead of having to dig it out from a chest pocket. There were no complaints about the styling or color, and the two-color scheme is a nice change of pace. Branding is minimally located on the front left chest and a fabric tag at the neckline. Care and maintenance have been pretty straightforward as this jacket can be machine washed cold on permanent press and tumble dried on low permanent press.All in all, this is a good quality jacket that’s comfortable and has nice features to keep you warm and dry. I recommend this as a good jacket option to wear during activities in the snow.
