Chair is nice. Seems sturdy. The perfect height to use as my desk chair. The only reason I knocked off stars is that I ordered a black chair with natural canvas and received a black chair with black canvas. Seems a waste to ship it back, but I would love if the seller could send me a replacement canvas piece in the correct color. Will update review if they are able to.

I'd been wanting a director's chair to go with my hollywood lighted vanity mirror I received for Christmas and this was absolutely perfect and completed the look I was trying to achieve. I'm so happy with this purchase and compared to less sturdy and more expensive vanity chairs or benches, this chair was a super investment. If you're considering purchasing, I would recommend buying it. It was easily put together, already assembled except for the canvas seat and backing. It feels extremely sturdy as well. I'm also pleased the canvas seat and backing are replaceable and can be switched out with different colors in the future if I choose. Very nice! Thank you!

This is a very cheap, FLIMSY, chair made in Thailand. Read the reviews of people who bought it and it fell apart on them. I was shocked at the high price of other similar chairs, and so bought this one, thinking it was an excellent value. The mistake I made was in assuming it was like the directors chairs made years ago. It is not. The item is advertised as being built for "longevity." No it's not. The diameter of the wood for the legs and the support for the arms is about 3/4 of what was on the directors chairs I bought years ago. It feels like a 10 year old could pick it up with one hand, pitch it down, and it would shatter. (It weighs less than 8 pounds, and that should give anyone a hint, but unfortunately I was in a hurry and did not look at that) In addition, the tiny pads that are on the bottom of the legs as "floor protectors" are very soft, thin, and weak. When they eventually dissolve or break away, the screw that holds them will then scratch your floor. I would expect that this chair would fall apart after a year or two of use. Worst of all, the supplier makes it miserable for you to return it, with a long list of pitfalls that would allow them to reject it. And, they charge a 20% restocking fee and you must pay the shipping. It is not worth me repacking it, driving to a shipper, and paying to ship it back, and so I am stuck with it--which of course was the seller's strategy all along. Other sellers allow you to send items back from your home, but not this one. I understand it is hard to know who is telling the truth on these ratings, but just add my voice to others who are unhappy with this product and the manufacturer. When the chair does break, I will post photos to prove what I have written here.

Perfect. The cost could not have been better. Usually something so durable and nice would cost a lot more money and/or time.

I bought 2 and they each came in a separate manufacturer box, no Amazon box, no air pillows or other protection from typical yet unavoidable shipper thrashing. I was very pleasantly surprised to see very nicely finished wood with a gentle sheen, all assembled nicely, no marks or other damage at all - with almost NO form of protection inside the carton! These are so sturdy as to be shipped with only a thin piece of cardboard on one side and a thin sheet of Styrofoam with the cardboard on the other side, nothing on the ends - and they arrive intact and beautifully done. The only things I don't care for are the visible metal hinges showing front and back on the legs, and on each side at the arms/seat joint. I am thinking about applying a bit of decorative tape over those since I leave my chairs opened as opposed to folding an storing for occasional use. These had no instructions for assembly which was OK for me, but following for those who'd like some help. Hopefully I did not make a bunch of typos or miscues :)1. After gently pulling it from the box, unfold it about halfway - just enough that it can stand but not all the way. It will feel tight as the hinges have never been used. Don't worry, you won't break it.2. Open the package with the canvas seat and back. Note that each piece has a definite top/front and back/bottom.3. The seat canvas has a rod sewn into each side and the chair seat has a corresponding groove on each side. You will need to insert the canvas-encased rods into those grooves, one at a time., a little at a time. For this step leave the the arms hanging down to expose the groove. It takes a little patience to get the rod into the groove - hold the fabric taut as you work it into the slot from the front end, gently pulling toward the back at the same time. Make certain you have the proper side facing up!4. Once both sides are in and slide easily, go ahead and slide both sides back simultaneously until both rods are covered in the groove, nothing hanging out from the ends. It should be very easy to slide if they are inserted properly.5. Again, working with one side first, and only going partway, put the backrest canvas onto the posts. The chair arms just lift up to cover the rods you just inserted. Hold one up in place as you or your mate fit the loop on one end of the smaller canvas over the top of an upright post of the seat back. Repeat on the other side. Now pull the canvas down so that each side is more or less symmetrical to appear equal and balanced.6. Now you need to fully open the chair legs by spreading them apart at the hinges. They will have some resistance becasue the canvas and the hinges are all new so perhaps 5 pounds of force will be necessary. Just a strong steady push downward from the top of the hinge should do it. I use my foot (with a shoe on! and I'll bet a mallet or even your tough strong hand will push the hinges open to fully extend the legs apart.7. Before you move to step 8, pick up the bits of trash, put it into recycle or int the cardboard box, and put that out to the trash bin.8. Get a drink, a snack and test your new chair.
