Perfect fit for 1" headset on threaded steer tube. Just purchase 1" to 1"1/8 shim for stem.and 1" steer tube spacers. You can now use 31.8.bars and stem.

I needed this part badly, Had three days to get installed before next big race. Waited two days for package to arrive. Had one day to put together for race. Opened box that appeared to be a return,( grease in cup, sealed bearings,no grease). Missing one bearing and the fork race. Cannot use with missing parts,VERRY dissapointed.

Might not have the fancy name but the quality is just as good as that other brand-very smooth and looks great. The crown race has the dust seal molded in and you will need a appropriate driver. The cups install easily with a length of threaded rod a couple nuts and washers.

En mis tazas de dirección anteriores, los empaques eran de plástico de mala calidad, por eso los dañe y opte por adquirir este excelente modelo de tazas que me fueron recomendadas y hasta ahora han pasado la prueba.

I've installed about half a dozen of the Cane Creek headsets that preceded this model (S2, S3) and had never had trouble with my "DIY" homemade tools. This was not the case with the 40 series.Race: I typically use a length of PVC pipe to set the headset race on the fork crown. This technique immediately tore the flimsy rubber seal on the 40-series' race, completely negating any hope of keeping water away from the bearings. I ended up ordering a replacement race from my LBS and the accompanying race installation tool... another thirty bucks that I wasn't planning on spending.Cups: These have a recessed ridge at the lip which proved very difficult to set in my frame without mis-alignment. The upper and lower cups themselves have a very lightweight, fragile appearance and remind me more of the walls of a soda can than of a heavy-duty component for a mountain or touring bike. You'll notice that Cane Creek is selling a specialized installation tool for these pieces now, as well.I find this disappointing, since Cane Creek used to be the "sane" alternative to the high-priced bling of King, which has always required fancy specialized tools. Not sure if it's Cane Creek's desire to shave tenths of a gram from their products or to squeeze a few more dollars from the home mechanics who are installing their stuff...One last note: I own both the "ten" and the "forty" series, and they're nearly identical. The ten, priced in the same range that the S2 / S3 models used to reside, uses identical bearings (mine even came marked "40") but skimps on the crown race and top cap, which are both plastic. The forty series at least nets you a properly durable alloy for those components.

Bought an older Bianchi steel frame bike that I wanted to upgrade to a carbon fork. There are limited options for 1" headsets, but I'd had good luck with Cane Creek headsets before, and the price was right, so I decided to go with this headset. I've been quite pleased with this headset! It's performed very well, and looks great too. Highly recommend.

This is the lightest, and I think it's the best made headset on the market. It is really great quality. Lighter than the Chris King at less than 1/2 the cost. It's a no brainer.
