Replaced bad cam for a customer in Briggs&Stratton engine with this cam an the compression release governor arm came loose from the shaft that releases the compression on the valve after about 10 starts running the engine around 45 minutes . I do not recommend using this part for any repairs,bad quality item !!! Guess I'll be losing money on this repair because of trying to save the customer some bucks!!

So this was bought to replace the failed compression release component of the camshaft that commonly breaks after normal use. if you are quite handy and have been inside an engine before, it is not too hard of a job. We spend more time dismounting the motor from the mower than we did breaking down and rebuilding the engine. After a few hours use, the mower seems to be running fine and working as normal. The biggest complaint was the main gasket came crammed in the box. it was difficult to get it to lay down and not wrinkle during reassembly. As a note, the valve cover will need to be removed and the valves adjusted as part of this process. there is NO valve cover gasket with this kit, so we ended up making one out of RTV.

So far It is working fine, I just hope will lasts more than the previously installed by a Mechanic $365.00 (2-Hours of Mowing and broke). This time I decided to do it myself for financial purposes, It is a shame that B&S didn't have this part available & fairly priced since it is their bad design that causing this issue. I have been a B&S Customer all my life until now, I won't be buying their product anymore.
