On a clean vinyl floor it will slowly move away while you play.The problem is that the surface underneath it is some kind of anti-slip mat or equivalent. At the center there is a large circle with a lip, where the pin goes. The item is very light.Antislip mats are great provided that enough downward pressure is applied.A cello is not a very heavy instrument and it is often played at an angle, meaning that some of the weight of the instrument pushes the pin forward rather than downward.This would probably work better if the center circle was smaller, or even off center, so that more of that anti slip surface could engage with the floor.On my vinyl floor the item is not fit for purpose, at least not when holding the cello at an angle.I guess that on a less slippery surface it could work better, but I did not try. Also, an heavier instrument such as a bass might be less likely to slip, but it is just a guess.

Effectively stops my double bass slipping and protects floors. The large 'hole' is particularly useful for a bass player.
