Purple Vitex trees, also called chaste tree and Texas Lilac Tree. Super fast grower: 3-5 feet a year. Grown in backyard nursery of Crape Myrtle Guy in quart containers about 6-12 inches tall. Bloom all summer long and will mature 10-15 feet. Prune into a tree or leave alone and let grow as a large bush. Zone 6-10 Vitex are named a Texas Superstar. What’s a Texas Superstar ? Texas Superstars are vetted for Texas consumers. The decision as to which plants are highlighted in Texas Superstar marketing campaigns is made by the Texas Superstar Executive Board. The Executive Board’s decision as to which plants should be highlighted is primarily based upon observations made at replicated plots and demonstration trials across the state. In some cases, recommendations made by university horticulturists in other southern states are also considered. Because ornamental plant performance can be rather subjective, the board gathers as much input as possible from competent horticulturists who understand the importance of both landscape performance and marketability. Another important factor considered when selecting plants for educational and marketing campaigns is whether sufficient numbers of plants can be produced to meet the increased consumer demand generated by Texas Superstar efforts.

Great chaste trees. I’ve ordered from this seller a few times and the trees are hardy and doing great. Great addition for beauty and pollinators.

These came in tiny. They grew big & strong, quickly in one season. It’s like it has its own ecosystem with bees, butterflies and other insects, when these trees flower. These flower spring, summer and fall here in Arkansas. The person who grows these and sells these is amazing because these have done so very well this season we are so excited to see how much bigger they get next season, because they grow very fast!

Perfect little trees. They were about the 10 inch height range. Hoping they will be okay with my soil with clay in it. Used miracle grow garden soil to fill in the extra area of the holes dug.Very healthy. Roots are happy. Shipped wrapped in plastic wrap and holds in moisture for an easy trip. Shipping was only a couple days from Texas to Tennessee. Worth every penny. I really appreciate the included Crepe Myrtle Guy can coozie and the detailed care instructions.Thank you Clint and family!Update on September 8,2024: I have had them for a few months now, and they have more than doubled in size during the hottest days of the year with ease. They even have out a few purple blooms. I just make sure to water them once a week if there is no rain. They rooted into my sandy clay soil (zone 7b) without a problem.

I waited a while before writing this review because they were definitely smaller than I expected; however, after a few weeks they are doing great and growing taller each day. Look forward to summers when they bloom!

I purchased a bundle of 6 because they were cheap, and I decided, why not. We put four in the ground before the winter last year and put two in pots because their final location was not ready for planting. The two in pots wintered near the house and we brought them inside for the freezes (Texas). The first image attached is clearly the one that wintered in the pot. The second image attached is one of those planted in the ground for the winter. If you are considering purchasing this plant, I highly recommend you put them all in pots for the first year as they will grow substantially bigger, and then subsequently transfer them to the ground in the spring. Very hearty. All six are still alive and will do well.

I was a little leary of buying live plants thru Amazon, but was having a hard time finding any Vitex around where I live. If I did find them, they were usually in huge 3-5 gallon pots. So, I decided to order some of these. I was totally impressed with the condition of the plants - they were healthy, they were packaged securely for shipping, and shipped very quickly so they did not get stressed. These quart size pots did not require me to dig a hug hole in the hard ground around here. The plants are doing great! They have doubled in size since I planted them about 3-4 weeks ago. The first photo is what they looked like when first planted, the second 2 are how they look now.
