I love this light meter except when I hate it.This is a very nicely designed light meter with a detachable sensor which is great to place near your subject to be photographed and hold the actual meter at an angle that you can easily read it. It comes with a retractable cord that easily and neatly folds up.I would say that the unit performs as well as can be expected for a model in this price range, and I feel comfortable that the readings are accurate enough for my usage. But then I look at it and see all the mistakes they made with it.What’s there to hate about this? They cut too many corners, that’s what. The cord looks thicker than it is. If you look at it from the edge, it’s really, really thin. It’s so thin that coupled with the tensioner that pulls the cord in, it’s going to break the wire. This would be a great product if the manufacturer didn’t try to say a few pennies. You can use it on the unit and not remove it, thus, leave the wire alone. Or so you think. The sensor detaches a little too easily and you’ll find it coming off at the worst possible moment.Had they not cheaped out on the wire, this would be a great product. As it is, this is a total waste of money. I am returning this thing before it breaks and replace it with something that will be a little more sturdy. This takes a 9-volt battery. Generally, I don’t like gadgets that use this type of battery because they’re so terribly expensive. I could overlook that except for the fact this is so cheaply made on the external wire that it’s going to break. It’s not a question of could break. It’s more of a definitive will break over a short period of time. This was a great idea that was ruined by cutting corners. As such, it’s simply a waste of money. This will likely let you down when you need it most.

This meter has all the functions and features one needs to measure light intensity. I bought this meter for my hydroponic strawberry garden so I could quantify results when growing at different light intensities and it does the job. The photo detector is on a removable automatic wind up, 18" long connection that docks with the meter. The meter also comes in a protective case. The LCD display has large numerals with a wide viewing angle. All nice features. Now if it just measured PPFD too....Note that I did not rate the accuracy because I have no way of confirming it. That said, the manufacturer's claimed accuracy is better than many other low cost light meters. And I have no clue on what a "Thickness" category is so didn't rate that..

This meter worked great and even has a backlight for reading the display in low light areas. I especially like the detachable sensor because it allows you to take accurate light readings without your own body blocking the light. I use mine for measuring light levels on our tennis court. I attach the sensor to the top of a tripod to keep it level. I am very happy with this instrument.

I use this to adjust the lighting for my hydroponic garden. I was having a tip burn problem with my lettuces and measuring the light intensity let me adjust the lights and solve the problem. While I can’t comment on accuracy per se as I have no independent measurements to validate it, it’s accurate enough for my purposes. Price is reasonable and the removable sensor is nice so the screen is not under the bright lights where it would be difficult to read.
