Don't be fooled by the '200' moniker. Strathmore's bristol boards range from 200 to 500, with the latter being ultra high end, 100% cotton up to 4ply. This is a better surface for inking than the 300 bristol.This 200 accepts every ink that I have in my collection, ranging from thick sumi inks and french-style shellac inks to ultra thin inks like Koh-i-noor Ultradraw. I don't know how they treat the paper, but it accepts Higgins India and Higgins Black Magic perfectly, without feathering or fuzziness. Those are thin inks that tend to get fuzzy on a lot of papers with either crowquill or brush.If you are doing reproduction work and want absolutely matte ink, Higgins India, Higgins Black Magic, EON Vortex, Bombay black, FW Iron Oxide Black, and Amsterdam Black work really well. It's also bright and sturdy. For whites, Higgins Super White, Bombay white, and Daler-Rowney Pro White are reasonable matches for the color of the board.
