This seems a little thing and plated. Not sure if it's solid brass

I needed a replacement for a lost three point lampshade ring that fits over a plain socket. This product works better! While the socket is not threaded, with little force the threads of this ring cut into the smooth plastic well enough to seat the ring firmly. The original ring did not take in the whole bent end of the wires, and it only rested in place, so it rocked and twisted as well (Photo 1 -- of another lamp), thus failing to hold the wires. But the wires of the shade fit all the way perfectly into the screw holes of this ring, thus go nowhere because the ring goes nowhere and holds them entirely (Photo 2).With the extra size I bent the wires inward to create spring action when spread, further firming the hold. The same done for the original ring helped infinitesimally and with difficulty because the "Holes" are tubular, requiring a more precise entry, limiting the amount of bow I could add to the wires.I have bought a second to replace the ring present on the mate (Photo 1) of the first lamp. As I have the first lamp overhead of my head in at the head of the bed, the viual is quite pretty with the pretty side down. The other will be seen from above, with the pretty side up.

You must understand the single star rating that I selected is not a reflection of the product or quality production of the above item it is simply that I am like someone from outer space that got an idea to begin creating my own lamps and lighting effects and I know what these are used for and how they fit but had no idea why it wouldn't fit the socket I had purchased and no matter how many different ways I ask the same question no one could tell me the correct socket to purchase, sooo in the long run I modified it and it works perfectly for the effect and appearance I wanted and would buy not just one or a couple of them but several if they came with the socket that they were designed forThey are an excellent product so DO NOT CONSIDER MY EXPERIENCE AS CRITICAL

I don't (well, didn't) know much about lamps but was trying to figure out how to attach a glass shade to a lamp I had bought at a vintage store. From googling, I figured out that it was a bridge-arm lamp that had threading for an uno fitter. There are a fabric shades that come attached to uno fitters, but I already had a glass shade I liked, so I just wanted something that would secure it so that it didn't rest on the bulb. The opening at the top of the shade was 2 1/4", so I figured I needed a 2 1/4" uno fitter. I was a little skeptical of the idea of just screws holding it in place, and was worried that the threading wouldn't fit, but it works perfectly. I was shocked by how easy it was to attach!
