It is a good idea…however if the inside of your gas compartment is not designed for magnetized items this will not work for storing. I have to keep mine in my rear passenger door compartment for somewhat convenient access. Check your gas compartment area before purchasing!!!

At first we thought it would just attach to the gas cover but then realized we needed to attached the magnet firstMy husbands hates his hands smelling of gas so we are hopeful that it will keep his hand gas free

This item works but is thick and it is difficult to hold the gas pump handle. The item was too large to fit inside my gas tank cover.
