We have a small pony. She's to big to be a minature but to small to be considered an average pony size. She is 366lbs. 9.2 hands high. The girth belt is at its highest setting on her at this size. We will probably have to switch the girth belt out for a smaller one so it will fit her. Very nice quality! Will update this review after we have used it for a while. I thought it came with foot stirrups, but it does not. Functional saddle as my kids love riding bareback but this will be more comfortable for the horse and them now! A regular saddle is just too heavy for her.

This bareback pad is even better looking than the pictures. I bought the green, which is just as shown. It's well made, well thought out. The upper is comfortable and gives a secure feeling. The underside and girth make sure the pad itself doesn't slip on the horse. Two convenient pockets, one open for a water bottle, the other closed for phone, keys, whatever. I'm so glad I chose this one, with all the choices out there!

I liked the way this pad was soft & flexible to my horse's back. The suede topside helps keep your seat in place. Good thing it comes with a girth otherwise I don't know where you'd find a single buckle girth. I don't like that the strap goes up & around the back potentially creating a pressure point on my horse's spine when the girth is tightened. The pockets are great for putting stuff in there when trail riding, water bottle it comes with is cheesy. Not sure how well it will breathe in hot weather, it's quite large & covers a lot of the back.

This thing is great. A real workhorse of bareback pads. This is my first bareback pad and originally I wanted a suede one but I think I made a great choice here in terms of value for price. It's grip on my 15.3hh qh (who usually fits a standard QH bar or wide fit western saddle) is great. Cinch has room for him to get fatter tho that's not in our 10 year plan. Cinch fits my more mutton-withered 14.3hh QH, too. Definitely won't fit on the 12hh pony though.Water bottle holder n little pockets are brilliant.Strap up front great for assist in swinging up but doesn't grind on the crotch when you're riding.I got tan and I like the color. Pretty much true to color from the photos.I spent a lot of time shopping around and will be spending many a mile on this thing, and I anticipate it lasting a really, really long time with just basic care

I absolutely LOVE this bareback pad! It's extremely light & easy to use. The girth that comes with it seemed a little small when I unboxed it, but the straps are generous and I have plenty of extra room for my horse (15.3hh) to fatten up into.The non slip girth and bottom of the pad itself keep it from slipping around. No joke, I think I could ride this thing without the girth if I need to! It's that grippy!The pockets are generous, and while the drink bottle doesn't seem like it'll last for the life of the pad, it's nice to have now and the pocket should fit another bottle easily.My favorite part is the padding inside. It's firm and doesn't shift around. It's not hugely thick, but it's dense enough. And thanks to the generous girth you could put another pad underneath if you needed to.My horse and I agreed: fabulous comfortable ride. This is my favorite bareback pad of all time.

Brilliant, I kept putting off ordering one of these partly due to cost and justifying it, however for a recent birthday I threw caution to the wind and glad I did I love it - it's very easy to use and makes riding bareback so much more comfy, I like to ride this way for speed as in limited time to tack up although to be fair it's not much quicker than putting a saddle on and most importantly improving balance and core seat I used to use a polypad and surcingle but this is much better padded and secured its a bit more of a leap to get in as slight higher and I have found that lots of trotting particularly uphill will cause it to slip back a bit and though about a breast plate all in all though a good buy it will get lots of use in the summer

Highly recommend this pad. Comfortable, well made, attractive and fits a wide variety of horses. There is padding at the pommel, cantle and flaps, helps keep legs and seat in the correct place. There is a water bottle holder and the side pocket. Very handy when going on a trail ride. The pocket (shown in the picture) is large enough to hold a few supplies, i.e. hoof pick, small first aid kit, etc. The water bottle holder is large enough to fit most standard sized bottles. I ride English but purchased this western style for the pockets. There is also a hand hold at the front. Great tool for working on balance, seat position, and leg position. I have highly recommended this product to several friends.

Been riding bareback now since last winter - horses were fine (young) but our butts hurt a bit with a plain suede/wool pad and we wanted a second pad anyway, so took a chance with "Best Friend Western Style Bareback Saddle Pad" in black. LOVE it. Girth is great, flexible, soft and breathes well. Padded at buckle, keepers are strong. Love how it's adjustable on both sides. Pad itself - nicely made, comfortable, no extra sweating, no hair pulling. Horses seemed more relaxed at trot too. Not too thick or thin, shaped really nicely, good grippy material on top and love the grippy weave foamy stuff on bottom (and girth). A+ so far with the first few rides. Hope it lasts a LONG time because we love it. Ordered another so we can both use this wonderful pad. Treat pouch is a real benefit too! Shop around for colors and good prices.

Even better than I expected. My 11 year old felt more comfortable on her pony than with a saddle. Her 16 year old sister was delighted with it on her thoroughbred.
