I love my little Baofeng radios. The quality of the radios is always fantastic. Setting up CHIRP and loading on your own settings is easy, and with some tweaking and research you can even have it display a custom boot image.I use these daily to monitor for emergencies, as well as for camping trips. They have held up well and are a joy to use.Sound quality is good from the radio, but the reception on these are hit and miss. Sometimes my other radios get a clear full message, and the baofeng's has more static. I've done some adjustment on different settings and can get it close, but never perfect.I think this is a functional radio for many people either getting into the hobby or for a bug out bag.Decent value for the money spent. More expensive setups are often only a little better for twice the price.

Nice starter radio for ham radio use. Using the Chirp programming software, a free download, it makes this easy to program. You do need an FCC amateur radio license to legally transmit on the ham bands. The screen is easy to read. The construction is cheap, if you drop it, that is probably going to break that radio. Again, the radios cost wouldn’t make you go broke to replace it.

I really like the features of this radio, it has more range of stations you can listen to. It’s no blue tooth but works great.

Pretty nice radio. On a fresh battery one of mine puts out 4.4 Watts on 220, almost 8 Watts on 440 and around 9 Watts on 2 meters. The other I gave to a friend. Receive is good and the big antenna matches on all 3 bands, shorter one won't match on 220. My only complaint is that if you are not a Prime member, they delay shipping as a punishment. Generally I can wait.

If you are not a radio snob these radios are fantastic. Great range, great sound and VERY EASY TO PROGRAM. I’m amazed at the features this radio has for the price they are being offered at.If you are a radio snob then you’ll want to go spend more money elsewhere because this is a baofeng after all. I find it much more user friendly than the bf-f8HP, love the color screen and the size/ergonomics of this radio.Reading reviews of baofeng radios is hilarious when written by “radio enthusiasts”. According to their tests, baofengs never seem to measure up to radios that cost 5x as much…. Crazy stuff. Who would’ve figured? For the common user… a person that wants an affordable way to communicate across a farm or on a hunting trip or while hiking without spending $150+ on a set of radios, these things just work - and they do it well. Buy a couple spare batteries and you are set.I’m loving these k5’s. I don’t care who’s design they copied and whether this radio does what another radio does. This is just a good radio in its own regard. Period. I’ve been using this radio for a couple weeks and I have zero complaints. Best bang for your buck… this thing is it.

I love these radios. They do the job, they are excellent, even though they are not the "Name Brand" ones everyone always wants to get, they are great radios. The programing can be intimidating, although once you get it, it is so easy.I would recommend these.
