The materials are very cheap feeling and sounding.The material of the body seems to be a very thin layered wood material, maybe oak. The acoustics sound really bad, it's a very hollow sound that causes way too much reverb. The way that the strings are laced also give them a slight "tin-y" or buzzing sound.Even as a starter ukulele, this is very bad. I would not recommend it to anyone except for maybe a kid without the actual expectation that they'd want to play.

This looks great in the photo and totally seemed my style. Now, I have over 3 dozen ukuleles, but I wanted this both because of the looks and that it is laminated and more travel-friendly than my solid tops and all solid ukes. I got this in and was extremely disappointed. It does not look as nice in person in my opinion. But most of all the sound is just horrible. The frets are mostly smooth towards the head but do get rough going higher up the fretboard. But the issue is that it sounds like I have a piece of paper near the nut... now this is a technique to add a more percussive sound, but it shouldn't be how the instrument normally sounds. So, I examined more to see why this was happening and discovered strings C and E both buzz at the first fret. The action, you can see at the 12th fret, is incredibly low... probably the lowest I've ever seen from a factory ukulele. I think quality control was just awful on this piece and I will no longer trust this brand, unfortunately, so I am returning this uke... waste of space and money to me, even though it might look okay on the wall. Oh, and BTW, the bag offers no protection and is just a dust cover. (Note: I have tried sopranos from this brand without a buzzing issue, but if this one made it past quality control, then I just have no faith in them.)

It's decently built and braced with a nice tone. The frets are nice and smooth and the overall size is perfect. The geared tuners are an upgrade...especially if you're used to simple, cheap pegs. The neck is a good size too without being too big or too small with a comfortable radius. Decent finish and an interesting paint job. Comes with a bunch of accessories including an LCD tuner that's a great bonus.
