Several years ago I bought a cheap, $15, disc brake set. I could never really get it to work. I blamed it on my installation, but then I took a look at the reviews and many people felt they were dangerous. So I got the Avid set, which were three times the money, but they are wonderful. I'm going to add one to my wife's bike and then to the rear of both of our bikes.

Tolle Bremsleistung für eine mechanische Bremse. Gute Einstellbarkeit. Auch die Montage war einfach, da die konischen Beilagscheiben den Bremssattel bei der Montage sehr gut in die korrekte Stellung kippen.

These brakes are well worth the money. I bought a cannondale catalyst 4 with mediocre brakes (j.a.k)....Avid is well known for producing great products so i decided to upgrade my brakes and I'm very glad i did. These brakes stopped me at well under half the distance it took my old ones and i weigh about 220. I would highly recommend this upgrade to anyone who is not satisfied with their stock brakes

These brakes so far have worked really well and most recently they stopped me from getting ran over when an absent minded housewife decided to pull into her driveway without using a right turn signal. These brakes stopped on a dime.

la relación ajuste/duración es muy sensible. Si no se revisa con frecuencia, puede acelerar desgaste de pastillas.subió muchísimo de precio.responde muy bien a la acción de frenado

I bought the new brake system to replace a bent break rotor on my bike. they were very easy to install. everything you need is in the box. I have several bike trips on the new brakes and they are working perfectly. I would recommend these to anyone who wants good stopping power for a great price

I'm no 'bike techie' just your average everyday person who loves to ride a bike.I initially had a 'Clarks rear disc set' (bought from Halfords and a total waste of money), that was what I found to be a cheap and cheerful brake system that gave you leg muscles, like you'll never believe (the thing kept sticking and I found I was peddling against friction!)Anyway, bought the avid and the difference is amazing, as with all bike things, you seem to have more 'fingers and thumbs' when adjusting or fitting fiddly parts, apart from that though, really simple to fit. You have three areas to adjust to get the perfect set up and thankfully I no longer have any rubbing.Really nice looking brake set and you can tell its quality, I bought along with it the avid one finger brake lever, so the both go very well together. It doesn't come with 'paper' instructions, now we are in the 'digital era', it was a case of going to the website (as asked in the packaging) and you download the instructions. But to be fair, you won't really need them.I did have a bit of a 'moment' didn't realise the two 'slightly' different attachment mounts are for one for the front and of course the other for the back. I was trying to put them all together on the back, I probably would of known this quicker if I had actually downloaded the instructions!

An excellent mech brake for the price in my opinion. These are particulary good if you are upgrading from cheap tektro novella brakes. I was able to continue using my tektro rotors which seem to be wider than the included rotor with the bb5, allowing it to brake better due to more contact surface with the pad. It is nice having a twist knob to adjust the inner brake pad, this was not a feature on my stock brakes. Solid upgrade!

Putting this on was a little more complicated than necessary, and it doesn't come with a lever or brake cables. At $41 for no brake cables/lever, it's not a good deal, especially if you don't need a rotor (which is included). Hydralic brakes are a substantial upgrade and I wish I had gone with those instead.Amazingly, the printed directions are half-printed! Wth?[...][...]

These things are so easy to mount and get adjusted. I am using them on the rear of a cargo bike and they have excellent stopping power. The caliper pinches from one side only, but they adjust on both sides independently. Avid really knows what they are doing with brakes. I would, and will, buy these again for other bikes.
