They do protect your hands, but the padding is not great if you are riding a long ways.

Comfortable yet supportive, nice material. The padding is not very thick but seems thick enough and I like that, at least until I hit the pavement!

I would consider these average cycling gloves. They fit well and are comfortable to wear, but there isn't nearly as much padding as other gloves I've owned. The tabs to pull the gloves off are really nice. I was disappointed by the amount of loose strings at the finger holes. For $14.99 these definitely are worth the price and will work just fine for shorter rides.
