Filter was a direct replacement , it fit in place with minimum water spillage and without tools. Clean appearance, makes it sadly to wipe down it it does get dirty.

A perfect fit and replacement for the original Filtrete filter. The prices for these are insane, though. I get about 5-6 months out of each filter on my kitchen sink faucet.

As opposed to the 3M filter this replaces, this filter apparently uses seals that may deteriorate with the normal silicone O-ring grease used with Viton or some other seals. Not a problem, IF you read the instructions. Since the 3M came with a silicone lube already on the seals, one might not be prepared for the additional installation step. Also, I find it best to turn off the supply line when installing this filter. The O-rings are a tad smaller than the 3M, and I got a little spray out of the first one I installed. No problems with the supply line turned off. The filter works well and is a lot less expensive than the 3M.
