I hate bagels that I slice incorrectly. Either one side be super skinny and the other side be super thicc, or it be a perfect slide. This bagel slicer does the trick and it feels good in hand. I don't know how the blade will hold up over time, but it was able to glide through my Thomas bagels (i know i know there's better out there, but my wallet doesn't think that). I now find myself making bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwiches every other day now.

I've had bagel splitters in the past. They were made of clear plastic, which quickly became scratched, cloudy, and ugly. They also had simple angled blades. There is a clear plastic sleeve around the cutting wedge. I hope it remains clear, but the wood beneath it will probably remain attractive even if it goes a bit cloudy. The triangular serrated cutting edge works well. The only thing was in splitting a bagel that was already half pre-split, the cutter didn't align perfectly with the pre-cut, so I had some crumbs and scraps. Next time, I'll try to match the cutter and the cut a little better.Everything is open enough to easily clean out bits of bagel or raisin or whatever may be left behind. It earns its place on my busy countertop.Update 4/14/25I bought a package of super-sized bagels, which don't fit into this gadget. Back to the knife for these. Not a show-stopper, but a bit disappointing.

This slicer has a beautiful design and solid craftsmanship. The acacia wood feels smooth and sturdy, and the safety shield and grip give the impression of thoughtful engineering. It has a clean, natural aesthetic that definitely adds a nice touch to the kitchen counter. From the look and feel of it, I expected it to perform just as well. But after actually trying it out, the performance didn’t live up to the design. I used standard everything bagels from a nearby deli—nothing oversized or frozen. When I placed the first bagel in and brought the blade down, it didn’t slice through at all. Instead, it just pressed the bagel down and flattened it inside the holder. I figured it might’ve just been a one-time thing, so I gave it another go with a second bagel, and got the same result—more squishing than slicing. It’s disappointing because everything else about it feels premium and well-built. The blade appears sharp and the mechanism moves smoothly, but it just didn’t cut through even a fresh, soft bagel. If this tool can’t handle a basic deli bagel, that’s a real usability issue.I was hoping this would make breakfast prep quicker and safer, but instead it’s ended up back in the cabinet. Whether it's a blade alignment issue or just not enough slicing force, I can’t say for sure, but something in the function just misses the mark. A bagel slicer should work without needing perfect conditions or specially selected bagels.

The "bagel guillotine" is not a novel idea anymore. We've had one in our family for quite sometime. However, most of the ones we have seen are pretty plasticky. We used to put our plastic one away out of sight, but given we go through a lot of bagels, it ends up being on the counter more often than not. So coming to grips that this was going to be an out-in-the-open tool, we decided to get something a little nicer looking and found this wood one.Overall, it's nice looking, particularly from a bit more of a distances. The wood is pretty attractive and fits in nicely on our wood countertop. It looks like it would be a match for most cutting boards. It operates smoothly. The part with a blade actually has a clear plastic housing that the bottom part, which holds the bagel, slides over. You don't notice the plastic from a distance, as it's clear. The blade works as expected. It slices through our bagels with relative ease. There is also a channel on the bottom that also allows crumbs to escape. The reasons I knock it a star are twofold.First, the screws on the handle, which are very industrial and not necessarily seated in their channels perfectly well, bely the fact that this is probably pretty cheaply made. I think they could have chosen other hardware to maintain the illusion of quality. The other issue is that I think it's actually going to be kind of hard to care for this, given the wood. It didn't come with directions about how to care for it -- and clearly you are not putting this in the dishwasher. But I suspect that over time the wood may start to show its age in a way that a plastic counterpart may not do.I'm taking the star off for the screws mostly. It's probably more a 4.5 star thing, but whole stars are the only option of course.

Annie & Mia Design Premium Acacia Wood Bagel Slicer, Stainless Steel Blade, Bagel Cutter with Safety Shield and Safe Grip: This item is beautiful. It is well made and sturdy. The handle has the clear plastic around the very sharp blade so it protects fingers and hands unless you are very careless. The wooden part is cut to hold the bun, biscuit or bagel in a perfect position to cut. The bagel took a moderate amount of pressure to cut it, the bun took very little pressure and the biscuit basically cut itself. The weight of the cutter assembly just slowly slide right through the biscuit. The only con I have is it is difficult to clean. My bagel had raisins in it and they left a smudge on the plastic and cutter. One needs to clean it from the top, carefully. But it is not impossible. The blade is serrated and very sharp. I like this item very much. It works well and is extremely easy to use. In my opinion is it worth the price they are asking.
