Product Description

ELECTRIC FENCE TESTER

INTRODUCTION:

The fence testers are designed for measuring pulse voltages on the electric fences.

It features Smart Power technology so that it will turn on at the detection of a pulse and turn off after about 4 seconds when no pulse is detected.

This technology saves battery power and ensures that the fence tester is turned off when not in use.

FENCE-TESTER

OPERATION INSTRUCTION:

1. Drive the probe into the moist soil. (If the soil is too dry, add a suitable amount of water to the soil in advance.)

2. Connect the test hook to the fence line.

3. The fence tester will turn on when a pulse is defected.

4. If further pulses are detected, the voltage will be displayed.

For more accurate measurement result, read the display after three pulses have been detected.

Note: Reading’s unit is kV. For example, if the display reads 6.0, the voltage value is 6.0 kV.

WARNING

1. Remove the test hook from fence and any conductor before you open the battery cover or the case.

2. Do not operate the fence tester with the battery cover or portion of the case removed or loosened.

3. To avoid electric shock, do not touch any conductor with hand or skin.

4. When using the probe, keep your finger behind the finger guard.

5. Do not ground yourself while using the fence tester.

6. Do not use the fence tester to measure an electric fence which may cause injury to human being in case of electric shock.

7. Do not operate the fence tester around explosive gas, vapor or dust.

8. It is recommended to verify the fence tester's operation by measuring a known electric fence before you use the fence tester.

9. Do not use the fence tester for any measurement if it operates abnormally.

Good tester, easy to read, no more trying to see which lights are lit. Needs a battery

Used to check portable electric tape fencing that we move to different areas for short term grazing. It is so much better that a previous type used that was hard to see in daylight and registered on a meter when it worked. This one does take a battery, but it shows the actual voltage in large numbers on a screen. Love it and so glad I purchased.

Product works fine. My only gripe is that is does not come with the required 9V battery. That is not a big deal except the manual, package, in short nothing tells you this. Took unit to field. Didn't work and almost returned. Decided on a whim to check. The maker should make this clear.

I have a Parmak Solar Pak 6 Low Impedance 6-Volt Battery-Operated 25-Mile-Range Electric Fence for my very small apiary (two beehives). I got this fence tester to confirm the voltage output coming out of my unit. It consistently measured at 3.6KV which is inaccurate according to my Parmak unit which simultaneously measures at over 10,000 volts consistently. I did everything to make sure there wasn't a fault on my end (i.e. checking for anything touching the fence, making sure the grounding rods were sitting in wet ground, every bit of the electric fence is constructed using the proper materials, etc.). I'm using a 25 mile range unit which is overkill for an area that is about 25ft by 15ft so there's no way distance is the problem either. The tester we received just didn't work accurately. We even bypassed the fence and tested straight from the Parmak Solar Pak outputs and the fence tester still showed 3.6KV. If the fence tester worked with the pulse fence as described in the product description we would have loved this fence tester as it felt nice and even came with a nice little carrying case. Great value, but only if it worked as stated in the description of the product. I see another reviewer had the same problem with their electric pulse fence so I think the tester just doesn't work properly for pulse fences.

We have 6 Great Pyrenees dogs that are guards for my Pygora fiber goats. We have the mother who had 13 puppies and we kept 5 of them. They are about 6 months old now and have been misbehaving by digging and getting out despite our electric hot wire. We were thinking that out hot wire wasn't working and neither of us was brave enough to touch it, so we ordered this. What we discovered is that, although our hot wire was working, it wasn't putting out near enough voltage to deter the dogs and goats from going near the fence, nor prevent the dogs from escaping. We ended up having to purchase a larger fence charger with more voltage output and the dogs haven't escaped once since then which is a huge relief and necessary for the safety of the dogs. So, this tester really helped us and it worked fine. Our new charger has a digital readout to tell us how much voltage we have going at any given time and this tester tests in the same general voltage so it seems to be pretty accurate. We are happy with it. It is very helpful to us.
