I believe the description for this sand said it was washed but it's apparently not washed too good. My hand had a coating of dirt as if I'd been playing with clay or something after playing in it with my son. It's like the sand you find on the beach of a state park or something, not superfine/soft, couple tiny rocks/stick pieces here and there, and a darker color than typical beach sand.

This sand was great for my children’s sandbox. 50 pounds filled a small sandbox perfectly, the sand was clean didn’t have a funky smell and was the perfect grain. My kids absolutely adore playing in their sandbox, so making sure they have safe. Sand was a priority and absolutely met the standard. Will be purchasing again next time I need sand for their sandbox.
