Also helps to protect the area from hot spot irritation. Can be used along with a full bandage to protect it from getting dirty, which means less bandage changing needed, or it could be used instead of the full bandage during the end of the healing process to keep it protected and allow airflow to promote healthy incision healing.

My dog is 24 inches high at the hip and I ordered a an XLThe sleeve fit perfectly on my standard poodle! She had leg surgery and her incision is about 5 inches long, plus she has a very long neck so I was worried she would reach it even with a cone. My vet was very excited to hear that I had purchased this! It was very easy to put on, she adjusted to it in less than a minute. It’s very comfortable for her, it’s soft and breathable. The rigidity in the reflective strip helps it stay in place over the entire upper leg and hip and not move around. It does not prevent her from going potty, and it would not interfere with a male dog either. She wore it all night next to me in bed and had no issues, she wiggles and rolls in her sleep and this sleeve did not move at all. She can jump in it (she’s not supposed to but she did a few times) no problem. The band at the lower leg is very stretchy but also soft and does not dig in at all, it was very easy to slip her paw through.I tied it to her collar and I left a little slack because it can pull when she turns. She’s a very young and flexible dog though, so ymmv. The photo I included was before I tightened the straps, it was just a fit check and I will add updated photos if possible. I am trying not to have her stand too much.

I have 3 other lick sleeves. The others either wouldn't stay on or were thick material. This one is light weight and stays on like a charm. At first it looks flimsy, but it stays in place 90% of the time. It's cool. Sized right. I had to buy another bc the tie got caught somehow and broke, but im not taking away stars because I think part of why it's so comfortable is because it isn't scratching her with velcro or pinching her with clips.

Our border collie/shepherd had a mass removed from her hip. The sleeve is fine, a soft cotton material & size was perfect. When she walks or moves in her bed the attached ties are all over the place! This product needs some work before the ties strangle a dog! My husband slept in a chair( dog likes the cool couch) Lol to watch her for safety reasons. A wide Velcro strap around belly might work ( maybe not male dogs )These ties for neck, collar & around hip are really cheap & dangerous. If you tie the one along back to collar too tight she cannot drink water :/ Probably the whole body suit is a better choice if it’s not 100 degrees.

Light weight, easy to put on, easy to clean. Wish ties were a little longer for greater comfort but definately does the job.

Our boxer had TPLO surgery to repair her ACL. She absolutely dispised the "cone" and would shut down if she had to wear it. I came across this recovery sleeve, thinking the idea behind it was great as our dog likes to wear clothes. The product itself is well made, soft fabric, didn't seem to bother our dog, other than the fact that is has to tie around her neck. The strings that tie around the neck and hips are not easily adjustable, and the only way to keep the sleeve on the dog without it coming off is to tie it tight. Once you tie it on tight, it's hard to unknot when you are ready to take it off for any reason. Our dog managed to still get it off her leg, even after tying it securely, as she found that once she sat down, there was slack in the string that ran from her neck tie, down her back to the hip tie. After getting it off, she had access to her incision. If your dog enjoys (or doesn't mind clothing) and hates wearing a cone, I suggest a full recovery suit, or recovery pajamas. We purchased recovery pajamas for our dog, and she loves them, and her incision is healing wonderfully.

I purchased the largest size, and it should have worked according to the online measurements. Unfortunately, I could not get it to stay up because the body ties were too short. Also, this was not shown in the picture and the instructions to put it on your pet were ineffective and didn't make sense. Complete waste of money, I couldn't use it at all!!!

My 65-70lb GSD had TPLO surgery a week and a half ago. I love my dog but he’s a bit of a meathead and did not take well to the cone that was given to us by the surgeon. I keep the cone on him, like it or not, at night or if I have to leave the house but during the day he’s cone free and wears this sleeve 24/7 when I’m home and around him. Will it prevent licking? No. But it’s a deterrent during the day. If your dog is determined to get to its wound, he will get to it without a cone. I like it because it’s not tight (xl- the large was too small) so air can get to the wound and the antiseptic spray can dry easily, the dog can do his business with it outside and I don’t have to monitor the dog every second to make sure he’s not licking his stitches. My dog has been wearing a harness since the surgery so the ties go up to that and I cut off the excess. He’s never had an issue with it falling off- have no idea how that can happen unless it’s user error.

This is brilliant in theory but failed in actual usage for me anyway. It’s made of very thin like T-shirt material that easily tears however my dog destroyed it beyond recognition. A determined dog will not be swayed from getting to the thing she wants to lick. I so wanted this to work. I need one made out of armor then it would have a chance.

Size chart seems a little off. I measured exactly 15.25" circumference which is max listed on the XL so I ordered that expecting a snug fit, but it is pretty loose and very long. For reference, she is 21" floor to back and you can see I had to roll it up.That being said, I am really happy that there at least exists an alternative to the E-collar and it seems like it is going to work well to keep her away from some stitches. I would just order down a size for a snugger fit.
