68 year old guy here that's been a "shade tree mechanic" for 56 of those years. My wife's 66K mile ZDX has been guzzling oil like a grog-drinking Viking on Shore Leave, so I did like most shade tree wrenches do these days - I watched some youtube videos to see how NOT to do this job. Tools to do the job the RIGHT way, the first time, without tears: 1/4" drive 10mm socket, 1/4" flex-joint adaptor, 1/4" flex-shaft 6" extension, 1/4" fine tooth ratchet wrench, GOOD lighting source, magnet on a ~6" shaft, and one of those "grabber tools" - preferably with a short flex-shaft, flat-blade screwdriver with a ~1/2" wide head. Long list, I know; I'm lucky enough to HAVE all that on-hand. The flex-shaft extension and/or the flex-joint adaptor allow you to get the 10mm socket directly onto the bolt head. After getting the bolt completely loose, take your shaft with the magnet on the end and put in onto the bolt shaft as you gently get the bolt out with your fingers, so's you don't let the bolt drop into "Hell". Bolt out? Now very gently put that screwdriver in-between the old PCV valve shoulder and the engine block and wiggle it until (in a perfect world) the PCV valve "pops" free. Admission: Our 2013 ZDX is a CA car since new, garaged since new, so the old PCV valve practically leapt out of the socket, LOL. As you pull it out a bit further, use your 4-pronged grabbing tool to capture that aluminum spacer before IT drops down into "Hell". Reverse these steps to install the new PCV valve - the trickiest part *I* found was keeping that darned spacer in place until the PCV valve seated into its hole. Just finished the job, so not sure if it's gonna make a difference in the oil consumption in MY case; time will tell!

Seems to be a Genuine OEM Honda part. Only tool you need to change this is a 10mm wrench but it can be tricky to get to. Mine was on the passenger front of the engine which seems much easier than the later years that are on the drivers side. i THINK 2009-2010 was the year it was moved. Just look at the front of your engine for the little blue flange ( and hope it's on the passenger side, lol)All in all it was easy to change out. I did this as regular maintenance and was HOPING it would solve my " Tighten Gas Cap " warning light but no such luck. Never hurts to change it other than the in the wallet but if i get even a small boost in MPGs it will more than pay for itself quickly

I bought and installed it on my mdx and it works getting better mpg and less oil burning, I also did oil flush and cleaned the maf sensor and the throttle body so that could b3 it.

My car use to burn oil quite a bit (full to empty in 8 weeks). Once I replaced the PCV valve, oil consumption has significantly gone down. Saves me from having to replace piston rings a 4K job. Replacing it was a hassle as the space to get to it is very tight. The old part will most likely break off while taking is out the car so handle with care.

I have a 2011 Acura MDX with 150k miles, and noticed much lower gas mileage and some strange oil consumption for a long time. I came across a post in a forum talking about this valve and how it fixed both of these problems. In theory it should be a breeze to swap. There is one 10mm bolt that holds it in. You have to remove a few things to get a clear shot at it, but that part is not too bad. The issue with these is that they can become brittle with age. I knew this going into the repair and sure enough - when I tried to coax it out the plastic broke, and I had to carefully remove the remaining pieces. Once I had gotten the old part pieces out putting in the new one was a snap! The best part is I went from 19.5mpg to 23mpg after this was replaced! I have not changed out the oil yet as I did an oil change at the same time, but I am hoping the 1-1.5 quarts between changes goes down or disappears altogether! Either way at least the MPH is back to where it should be!
