Atlanta Post Caps is a family-owned & operated business that distributes millions of post caps worldwide from their headquarters in Decatur, Georgia. They’re the only patented post cap on the market and proudly manufactured in the United States.
Our post caps are made from a UV-resistant, high-impact ASA resin, a material commonly used on automobiles and marine vehicles. Tough, durable ASA is what makes our post caps longer lasting than traditional wood post caps* and allows them to keep their shape and color in even the harshest weather.
*According to a study by NC State Bio Resources, ASA resin offers substantial improvements over plain wood. "Qi, R., He, C., and Jin, Q. (2019). "Effect of acrylate-styrene-acrylonitrile on the aging properties of eucalyptus/PVC wood-plastic composites," BioRes. 14(4), 9159-9168."
How to Install Our Patented Post Caps
Slide the post cap base onto your post. The bottom of your post cap base is smaller than the top of the post cap, and the two cap supports should be on top side of the base.
Secure the base to the post using the 2 pre-drilled holes on each of the cap supports. We highly suggest using anti-rust screws to ensure a lasting, no-hassle attachment.
Align the top of the post cap over the secured base.
Simply press and the cap will 'snap' firmly into place. Your post cap is now fully installed! We recommend not snapping the caps together until you are ready to install them.

What is the difference between nominal and actual sizing?
If you purchased lumber from the hardware store marked “4 in. x 4 in. (nominal),” it likely measures closer to 3.5 in. x 3.5 in. because nominal sizing is smaller than actual sizing. Actual sizing is the exact measurement of the dimensions of the wood, so a piece of lumber marked “4 in. x 4 in. (actual)” will genuinely measure 4 in x 4 in. The Same is true for 6in. x 6in. (nominal). Which measure around 5.5"x5.5" and is more common. If you’re unsure, always measure to double check! We carry post caps in both actual and nominal sizes

This cap was added to a 6x6 painted white that a water spigot is attached to. It is next to a vinyl pergola so this matches very well. Glad I found this!

I really like the look of this post cap and it compliments the style of my home. After mounting the base to my standard 6x6 post and installing the top - I noticed a small amount of wiggle in it. Not a lot of wiggle but this particular cap is in a place that gets touched a lot. So, I removed the top cap and installed four additional screws to the mounting bracket a little closer to the outside edge of the 6x6. This made it rock solid on the post. I highly recommend this product.

I got the true 8"x8" post caps and they were easy to install, though I had to get 4 inch long wood screws at the hardware store since the top of my existing post was in such bad shape due to water rot and insects. The cap is in two pieces and you have to screw in the bottom/collar piece first and then "snap" the top onto it. It looks like the attachment of the top piece to the bottom piece is fairly permanent and you might gouge it a little if you tried to separate them after they've been snapped together, so make sure the bottom is exactly how you want it before you snap them together. My old caps were wood and badly weathered and rotten. I expect these to last at least 10 or 20 years even with strong UV exposure from direct sunlight. Everyone says these look very classy and elegant. I'm very happy with them and will be ordering four more. Delivery was fairly quick - about 5 or 7 days.

This product was easy to install and looks great. I covered my 6 x6 posts with pvc board and made them a 7.5 x 7.5 size when finished. The caps installed in minutes over the 7.5 inch width of the post.

I was concerned about the brown color because one photo showed a lighter brown. They actually are a dark brown, they fit perfectly on my posts and look great.

I opened the box and was disappointed with them, I never bother to install them I thought they looked plastic, not sturdy enough and cheap! Odered cedar post caps from Lowe's, they look great!

Order arrived two weeks ahead of estimated time. Post fits great. It's difficult to find post caps larger than 6x6 these days. Glad to find this one.
