This is actually a bit for a router, and will work as expected for that purpose. I ordered this however for a different use. I needed it to finish a previously drilled hole of the same size that was drilled not quite to the point of breaking through the other side of the metal, then I used this to finish the hole to a flat bottom (still without breaking through), so that I could use a blind tap to tap the hole. This way I could put a bolt in with as many threads holding as possible, but not risk any possible fluid leaks from the reservoir on the back side. This cut well, did not build up debris, and made quick work of the job. Good tool!

This bit is sharp and well balanced. It cut smoothly and without burning. It's a fairly aggressive bit and I needed to keep a firm hold as I fed the board past it. I like having an 8 mm bit because it's a little larger than my 1/4 inch bits. I had to get an adapter that fits in a half inch collet. The adapter is working well and was under $10.

I've only used this bit a couple of times, but it was sharp and ran true. How long it will last is yet to be found out, but initially, it did the job just fine.

The 8mm Shank Downcut Spiral CNC Router Bit has been a great addition to my workshop, featuring an 8mm cutting diameter and shank diameter, with a 25mm cutting length and 64mm overall length. Its double flute solid carbide construction ensures precision and durability for all my CNC projects.

I used this router bit to prep grooves for using a Microjig dovetail bit for use with Microjig dovetail clamps. It works as expected. I used the bit in a DeWalt 611 trim router and proceed slow and steady cutting each 3/8 inch deep groove. The bit held up well and did a good job of preparing the channel for the dovetail bit.The spiral upcut really helps clear the wood chips out which my dust collector easily sucked out to keep the work area clear and provided the bit plenty of room to cut with minimum resistance.

While most of my endmill bits are not compression bits I am starting to add more of these to my collection. They work well to avoid damaging surfaces where normally you might get undesirable tearout (mostly things like wood or composite materials you don't want to try and finish additionally beyond that). Note that only a very small portion of the bit goes upward (about the bottom 1/4 in size) so if you are coming at it from the side keep this in mind. This is not a bit meant for steel but has worked fine on the alluminum and brass. We don't go heavy enough to tell the bit life already but a few months in and it doesn't show any early signs of wear. One reviewer mentions using the compression bit in a drill to flush cut a hole in metal for tapping. Don't do this. That is everything this bit is NOT meant to do. Your chip clearance won't work well. Compression bits are NOT meant for plunge cuts. You are supposed to ramp them in if you need to go down (which is also a bit tricky on a non CNC machine but not that hard). Otherwise come at it from the side, or use a normal bit to avoid damaging your more expensive compression bit.

This bit works well on my projects I mill on my CNC's. Just keep in mind when buying downcut bits are not meant for drilling holes when you mill on the CNC. It will heat the wood up and can catch fire. I would recommend these millends.
