The screw to tighten so the wire stays in place are in reverse. Screw out to tighten and in to loosen. Problem is when you screw out to tighten the screw comes out and I was using 14 gauge wire. Would not even come close to working with smaller gauge wire. Absolutely useless and will buy ones that work. I was desperate and wanted to use one of these and not return them, but the 14 gauge wire would just pull out when as tight as could be without the screw coming off. I am returning these and hate to do so for only 8 dollars, but these are such worthless junk they are being returned. Could not even use one and now have to wait again for a new delivery, but hesitant to buy any unless I know which way the screw turns to tighten.
