After doing some research on why my Eco Smart 27 tankless water heater can’t seem to keep up with filling up the bath tub I came across this item. Seems the further north you live the cooler your ground water is which affects the heater output. For my area in Virginia it shows that the output falls between the 4 and 5 gallon per minute range and without the restrictor the heater itself was putting out about 7.5 gallons per minute to the tub so we had to keep the handle turned way down on slow moving to get constant hot water into it. I installed the 5 gallon per minute to start and was able to fill the tub pretty well with the hot on full. It definitely wasn’t the hottest water but much better than before. Think moving down to 4 gallons per minute would give it what it needs but haven’t tried it yet. Was easy to install and I did it while doing a flush of the tank. No leaks and it came with everything needed.

Purchased this to correct an E5 “high flow rate” error code and lukewarm water generated by a new Eco-18 tankless water heater. This is the same product number as EcoSmart’s recommended flow regulator. With the purple 2GPM insert installed, the flow rate error persists. Ended up cracking the outlet valve closed until error code cleared, which you might consider trying first before purchasing this product.

Just installed, works great with my 18kw Rheem electric water heater.Thing to note:Install it on the hot water side (inlet) of your water heater.Came with a small card for how to install and what color does what.
