This was a perfect fit for my 2008 XLT Escape with the 3.0 V6. You need to know that this only fits the shifter side of the cable for my year model. There are two bushings in the kit with different inner diameter holes. I used the smaller hole and had it installed in about 20 minutes. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that will show you the fastest way to take your center console apart. Good luck and I hope this works for you too.

Ford Escapes (and other models) have a plastic nipple that holds the automatic transmission shifter cable in place. When this part cracks or gets ground up (which eventually will happen), the driver will try to shift, but there is no resistance anymore since the cable is just hanging freely. This happened to me, and I could not get my car out of parking position. Towing for 2 blocks was $130... Research showed me that Ford has a recall on this part (which actually costs less than $2 plus shipping), but that means at least half a day without car and waiting in the dealership (if lucky). The installation is very easy and takes less than 20 minutes or less. One has to remove the air filter box, which requires unscrewing one 8 mm screw with a ratchet and some maneuvering of the box out of the engine compartment. This is the most time-consuming part if one hasn't done so before. Underneath the box is the transmission and the loose cable. One pops on the plastic nipple, then pushes the cable into place. Box back in, done.I bought these as backups, and they fit perfectly well. The actual price for the 2 pieces is a bit steep compared to the OEM part. If one factors in the shipping costs, the price is decent since one gets 2 pieces (if they are of good quality, one might not need the 2nd one?).
