I thought the magnet was strong, but it didn't keep the octo from coming loose on my dives. In addition, after a few uses, rust appeared on the metal magnets. It could be useful as a secondary mechanism to secure a hose, but I wouldn't buy it.

Not bad, but it seems like every time I look down my hose is detached and dangling. I think the magnet could be stronger.

The design of this octopus hose holder seems to be sound with a twist-compression fitting to secure the portion that attaches to your octo hose and a plastic clip to secure the other piece to your BC. The two are held together by a magnet. I had a few issues with this on a recent dive trip.1. The magnet is too weak. It quickly detach during a boat dive when upon entry when I hit the water. It may be good for shore diving, but not for water entry from a boat. I also found that I easily detached it during my dive if my arm brushed against the octo regulator.2. This device attaches to the hose of the your octo regulator, leaving the regulator dangling. I prefer the plastic clip that attaches directly to the regular mouthpiece and keeps it securely next to my BC.3. It adds a little more weight to your whole scuba setup and if you travel with your scuba gear, every bit of weight matters to keep you from going over weight on your luggage. I would say this is several times heavier than my plastic octo holder.I decided to stick with "the old" and stopped using this magnetic holder after the first dive.

I tried to use it to hold my octopus in place. However, the magnets are barely sufficient, and my octopus fell off while diving on a reef, not cool. Also, they didn't come close to holding my gauge package in place. Stronger magnets would be better. The screw down clamp came loose. And even after a thorough rinse on the first day of use, rust developed so I don't expect them to last too long. A great idea but needs better execution.

The magnet isn't strong enough to hold the octo! I find it hard to believe that they tried this out before selling it. It is a great idea but they failed to use the proper strength magnet! Useless!

This is an octopus/safe second holder that attaches magnetically. The lower half screw-clamps around the hose and the upper clips the BCD D-rings.I tried it out on a DiveRite XT4 and a Scubapro R195 octo. It works well in low-current shore dives but I could see the magnet not being strong enough for giant strides or heavy current. I did not see how much it affected a compass but I'd certainly conduct some tests against a known bearing to see if your compass is affected.I think this a good device for repetitive pool training sessions but I'd certainly have a secondary boltsnap to secure the octo in rough water.

This magnet is not strong enough to hold a regulator or dive computer in place. The slightest movement and it falls off. Do not be tempted by the lower cost bc it is completely useless for its intended purpose.
