Good quality plug reduces 240v to 120v. Instead of running a separate 120v circuit, this is great for temporary use.

I guess they couldn't sell it without the NEMA rating.

There is a serious safety issue with this product. For the one I received, there is a serious defect that causes 240V to incorrectly be delivered to the 120V receptacle side (as shown in the first picture). I am an electrical engineer and I continuity tested the wiring of the product after it nearly fried my RV with 240V on the 120V receptacle end - I confirmed the adapter is wired WRONG. Specifically as shown (in the second picture, using my continuity/OHM meter), the "W" wire (White, which should be Neutral) on the 120V side is MIS-WIRED to the "X" (240V, NOT NEUTRAL and NOT "W") on the 240V side. If you look closely at the picture you should be able to see the "X" (240V side) and W" (120V side) molded into the receptacles. How it is supposed to be is: "W" on the 240V side is supposed to go to "W" on the 120V side. As a result of the mis-wiring, lethal 240V (at 50 Amps!) is delivered to what should be 120V on the 5-15/5-20R 120V side.

The 120 end of this adapter has 2 hots and the ground. The line voltage coming out of this end is 240. Only 1 of the hot legs from the 50A end should be coming to the 20A 120 end. This will pop circuits and possibly destroy equipment. Do NOT buy or use!

I needed this adapter to allow my gas stove to plug into the 240v to power its small electronic parts. I really did not want to have to add another standard plug behind the stove and this adapter did exactly that!I would recommend others to buy this.

This is exactly what I wanted. 50 amp to 20 amp adaptor. It has cast plastic/rubber ends, I do not have to worry about water getting into the components, the 50 amp side is covered by the electric box cover, the 20 amp end hangs down so water does not collect in the holes for the plug. Every time we would get a lightening strike the 120 v 20 amp GFCI outlet would trip leaving the RV without the battery charger, dehumidifier, and refrigerator running, with a 10 gauge extension cord this was an easy work around until I get the 50 amp plug installed at the rv pad. There are just some things that need to stay on or you are going to have trouble later this solved that issue.
