Fast and easy install. Not very much free-fall before it kicks in. I like it. Would be nice if it came with the necessary bits, had to go get the T50 bit.

The tailgate assist worked well at first, but the piston broke off from the plate after a couple of months. I emailed the manufacturer at least 4 times but never heard back from them. I could not find a US telephone number to call. I don't plan on doing business with a company that has such terrible customer service.*Edit. The manufacturer eventually did respond with a refund.

The instructions were very clear. Having wrestled with this before on a previous strut for the same vehicle I can tell you that these are better. That being said I already knew how to install it but looking at the instructions they're better and more clear. The drawings were excellent. The only downside to this is that while it does retard the fall it's still pretty quick not as slow as the one on my former truck which quite frankly took too long this one's just a bit fast but it does the job and it doesn't slam.

Great product, does what it's supposed to by letting the rear gate go down slowly. Fairly easy to install. I used youtube to search a video and it's was easy after that. Helps a lot with my wife and kids when taking things out of the back.

This is an item that is automatically included on some pickups, but not on the Maverick. However it's low cost, easy install and custom designed specifically for the Maverick make it a worthy purchase.I have to admit I had to read the instructions a couple times to fully understand it's install procedure and I had to use a half inch drive breaker bar to remove the original bold but other than that the install went pretty smoothly.

This is just the most basic thing to add to the Maverick. If you only do 1 upgrade, do this.I'm not sure why Ford didn't just include this as standard on ANY of the trims. I installed it in under 10 minutes. It is a sturdy piece, super easy to install and does exactly what it's supposed to do- lower the tailgate slowly and make it easier to use close.You lose a tie down/bottle opener on the tailgate with this install, but there are after market options to add one back if you need it.You do need Tork bits 50 and 20 or 30 (can't remember which of those it was). Keep in mind this version can ONLY be installed on driver's side. If that is a problem for you, look at other options, many of those allow installation to either side.
