Help Compress And Release The Belt

Vinyl handle for better appearance, better rust and abrasion resistance.
It can overcome the narrow space obstacle in the engine compartment, easily accessing the narrow location, aligning and securing the tensioner hole and upper spring, allowing the belt to be removed.

Detailed Using Process

1. Familiarize yourself with the MINI drive belt tool and the orientation of its offset head. The tool must be inserted through the fender well to retract the belt tensioner. Note the proper orientation of the tool, and how it must be installed above the air conditioning coolant line to reach the belt tensioner. Also locate the locking pin that will need to be pushed into place when the belt is retracted. The locking pin can easily be accessed by reaching up through the fender well (you can also use a helper to lock it from the engine compartment if you prefer).

2. Insert the tool on the belt tensioner's forged nut and use your left hand to turn clockwise to release the pressure on the belt. Use your right hand to reach up through the fender well and engage the locking pin.

3. The belt tensioner is now fully retracted. You will now need to disengage the accessory belt friction wheel. This is done by pulling on the release cable.

4. With the friction wheel released, you can now remove the belt from the engine.

5. Reinstall a new accessory belt following the above steps in reverse.

6. Reinstall the front wheel. Torque the wheel lug nuts to 140 Nm (103 ft-lbs).

if you're gonna remove/change the belt, you're gonna need this. (The larger one in my case) Worked well from below the engine, not through the hood opening.

Basically waisted my money on this. Advertises to fit my 2008 mini cooper tensioner pulley but the bends are all wrong as well as the star cut out did not fit at all. Waist of time and money.
