First off, it's a solid piece of metal, and there's no doubt it can handle impacts.However, the fasteners included were pretty crappy and the front holes were not properly aligned! The front holes were about 1/8" too close together. The bottom ones were torx and stripped easily and the front ones were made of a soft steel that also stripped easily.My other concern is the original skid plate has to be removed, as it appears it may be structural. I would feel a lot more comfortable during a hard landing if the OEM plate was there. There is no frame below the engine.

Have not had chance to install yet but skid plate appears to be well made and tough as advertised. Will update once gets installed and bike has been ridden for while.

Easy to install, seems beefy enough. The amount of resonance caught me by surprise. You definitely hear the tinny-ness of this as it reverbs motor noise. Might be nice to include a rubber washer for the mount that might reduce the noise factor? Unsure if that would do the trick though. Solid protection and it took gravel/rock shots all weekend with a loud report each time letting me know it was doing it's job.

Love the quality. But OOPS, I live in the great state of California, with all the really cool smog stuff, including the canister, that totally blocks mounting the skid plate. New 2017 Yamaha XT250. UUGH. I hate California. I was able however to move the smog canister up by using only one mounting bolt, and then cutting out part of the canister shield so it would fit the new position of the canister.

Product was as advertised, bolted directly into the existing mounting points on my 2010 XT250. The aluminum feels very durable and I would not hesitate to take it into any rough terrain.
