The ways that the X and Y axis slide on are INCREDIBLY rough. I was expecting it to be pretty rough for 200$ when I ordered it but it is still worse than I expected. Absolutely nothing was deburred and I cut my hands at least a half dozen times taking it out of the box. The adjustable gibs that came with the machine were so rusty they looked like they came from the titanic. If you buy this also purchase a countersink bit for deburring literally every edge is left razor sharp after machining. Expect to spend a couple hours cleaning what seems like used motor oil off the entire table, lightly filing any machined edges to deburr them, stoning all the ways with a flattening stone just to get them to move freely, lapping the Gibbs to remove the thick coat or rust. Best to assume it's a rough casting of an XY table and that you will have to do all machining to achieve any sort of accuracy or fluid movement. I wouldn't buy it if you don't already have a milling machine to fix it when it shows up.

The product is not metric as others have stated. Graduations are .001 inches. One full turn of the handle is .1 inches. I made a small mark on a piece of masking tape on the table, turned the handle 10 times, and it moved exactly 1 inch. Tried again, this time 20 revolutions, and it measured 2 inches.Anyway, I just unpacked the table and everything seems to be tight, sturdy, well made. Tons of travel! Reasonably priced. The only issue is that I can only bolt it down on one side (see photo 1). It’s pretty secure with just two bolts. I used a pair of wood clamps on the other side (not pictured.)Overall, I’m thrilled with the purchase, especially the fact that I won’t have to be converting metric to inches as I was led to believe.

I tried two other x/y vice setups for use on my drill press. They were all astonishingly sloppy. This thing is heavy and has little to no slop, and is exactly where I should have started looking rather than an all in one vice that could adjust, that vibrated like crazy even with soft metals and wood.Very highly recommended. So much cast iron for the money.Ease of movement can be helped by installing a 4mm thick needle style thrust washer set on each mounting point (3). You may have to grind just a touch off the keys on the shaft to help them fit. The difference is enormous as you can clamp each end properly tight, when before tightness actually causes a binding. In doing so, almost all slop vanishes beyond that remaining from the thread itself. To those who care, the edges aren't eased at all, but fine by me. The more weight the better.

Like others have said, it's a good value for the money. I would recommend it to anyone but a machinist. The bad: The acme screw is pretty rough. Mine needed to be removed and filed and sanded. And it was a little bent. After an hour of work and some grease it works very well. Out of the box it has a lot of backlash but that's easy to fix with a couple washers. The good: I got the backlash down to about .003. I think that's pretty good. The markings on the hand wheels are pretty accurate. I used a dial indicator to check and they are nearly spot on 1:1 (at .001). The table appears very flat and true but I don't have the means to verify it. And also appears to be true perpendicular. All quite impressive for such an affordable table. I also really like the travel distance. The only thing I wish it had - and I'm not even sure if this is a thing - is a lock so you could lock it in place. All in all, sturdy, accurate, and works well. I look forward to using it (more) over the years.
