If you are shortening your Shimano brake hoses you will need hydraulic hose insert to use .Brake olives and connection inserts are used to connect brake wires to levers or brake calipers.

Please note:

1.This is a single use item as the brass olive will deform after use.once the length of the hydraulic hose is changed, a new set of joints and olives must be replaced to prevent leakage.

2.So please confirm your Shimano hydraulic brake model numbers lever/caliper combination. Simply look up your model number to identify whether you need the BH59 or BH90 hose insert.

The inner diameter of the barb is too big be securely fastened to the outer diameter of hose. I had to get creative and clamp it onto the hose. From what I understand, it is supposed to be a press fit fasten, not clamp fasten.
