These thumb rests and mouthpiece pads were a bit of a mixed bag - the mouthpiece pads were ideal, just the right hardness and fit. The thumb rests were a bit too hard, and therefore uncomfortable to use.

As a band teacher, I encourage my students to use a good thumbrest cushion as they often have a bigger surface area, are a bit softer, and give a bit more security, especially on the more open tones--F, G, A where few fingers are down. While these thumbrest cushions are definitely more comfortable than a bare metal thumbrest, my students (who have cork already on their thumbrests) found that these gave neither more security nor a softer feel for the thumbrest. They did fit most of my student model clarinets well, and the students still felt "special" receiving them, but I'd probably go for a softer, wider cushion next time. So, 3 stars for those.Because the mouthpiece cushions are also included, those bump the star rating, as they are a very standard-feeling mouthpiece cushion, which makes students feel more comfortable putting their teeth on the mouthpiece (and they protect the mouthpieces, especially as students progress from plastic mouthpieces to hard rubber). 5 stars for the mouthpiece cushion, so 4 stars overall for the combo. With that said, I'd probably purchase mouthpiece cushions and thumbrest cushions separately in the future to get 5 star items for both.
