Having an entire CO2 tank go empty because of a leaking keg sucks. It's happened to me several times and I hope it never happens again. With this tester I can pump a keg full of compressed air at 40 psi and just let it sit for a week, check the pressure again and determine if the keg is leaking or not. If it's leaking, I'll just pump it full of air again and spray with soap/water solution to find the leak. Usually, it's the poppet on one of the keg posts not seating all the way. Sometimes it's a bad O-ring. Without this device you have to pump the keg full of air and check for leaks on every keg. This device tells you which keg is leaking so you don't have to check them all.

I force carbonate my homebrews. Generally I chill the beer and then set my CO2 regulator to a higher level than the target and agitate the beer, then let it settle. I have had to turn off the tank and bleed the pressure to get a backflow pressure reading. Using this I can just attach it to the port and read the pressure of the tank at rest. I keep a number of kegs in storage so having the ability for a quick check is handy. I like that the valve and adaptor is easy to swap for a pin valve as well. I have both ball and pin kegs.Likes- Simple to use- Bump cover on gauge- Easy to attach to a pin valve or ball valve- Fast reading of pressure in corny kegsDislikes/Improvements- None

I really like these types of quick connect gauges to monitor my spare kegs for leaks. After a keg kicks, I clean, sanitize then pressurize it for storage until the next batch is ready. I used to occasionally pull the PRV and estimate based on intensity of the gas released whether or not it was holding pressure. With these types of gauges I can see if the pressure is dropping over time and I don't need to let any gas out to test that the keg is still pressurized.I have a similar gauge from another brand but it only goes to 20 PSI, I like that this one goes to 40, although I rarely go that high on my kegs. They both produce the same reading of 15 PSI on a keg I pressurized from my regulator also set at 15 PSI so I feel confident this gauge's accuracy is inline with the rest of my system. The kit includes a ball lock connector and a push-fit connector which the gauge uses. You'll need to hand tighten the push connector fairly good, my first attempt very obviously leaked gas when I connected it. You don't need a tool, you can hand tighten but it needs to be on there good.Overall I'm really happy with this gauge, would recommend it for testing new/used kegs and general testing between batches.

This is a very handy pressure gauge that’s easy to use on a Cornelius-style keg. It can be just pushed onto the gas post to read the gas pressure inside the keg for spot checks or it can be left in place to monitor a developing natural conditioning process taking place inside the keg. The 40 psig gauge range is a little unusual but it’s ideal for kegged beer. Initially, I had problems with gas leakage. I smeared food-grade silicone grease over all the seals and found that I had to firmly tighten the nut with a wrench before it became totally leak-free. This is not unusual with these types of fittings. I will be using this product a lot in my beer-making adventures.

It arrived in 3 pieces. The ball lock was standard. The screw on fitting for the gauge stays attached to gauge. You can see the retaining ring which securely holds the gauge in place. The gauge itself is simple. Not oil filled. The numbers go up to 40 psi. That small range let's you get quite specific on the amount of pressure. Much easier to notice a drop of a single pound which would indicate a slow leak. This simple setup will definitely come in handy.

I would give this five stars but it doesn't read the same as one I have from another manufacture. Not sure witch one is off but for pressure brewing I guess its close enough which ever one is off.About 2 pounds different.
