I've got to be honest for the price point I didn't expect much from this, but I am pleasantly surprised! Very easy to install the range is very good, I have a hundred feet of winch cable and can be well past the end of the winch cable and still have good signal.

Seems to work all right and has pretty good range, will see what the future holds. the remote seems to be off lesser quality plastics. The Wires on the receiver module are a very thin gauge

I looked all over my garage to find the Harbor Freight 2000# ATV winch remote but wasn't able to find it. I searched HF website but they didn't sell the remote separately. Amazon had several choices but I was happy to find Gripway had both two transmitters and one receiver. When I received the unit the next day (thanksAmazon), I discovered that only one transmitter was included in the box. Additionally, when I disconnected the old receiving unit from the housing that included the relay, matching the leads exactly, I found that the old unit's black lead went to both the receiver and the relay where the negative of the battery is connected. The new receiver only connected to the receiving unit and the transmitter wouldn't function with the receiver. Only by placing a jumper between the negative battery relay connection to the black or negative lead from the receiver to the relay was I able to get the unit to operate the winch.I was going to send the entire box back to Amazon since the second transmitter was missing, but I decided since I already put the receiver into the control unit, and it worked, I would keep the item and write a review letting anyone who purchases this item is aware of its shortcomings.

Unlike some similar devices that I have used and owned, this unit has a lot of featrures that I was looking for.The pro's;*Great range *electronic on & off, not mechanical or physical switch * automatic transmitter power off after 2 minutes of inactivity * actual relays doing the on/off power switching to windlass control solinoid unit instead of switching transisters that burn out too easily * the receiver unit is potted in epoxy rather than just sitting in an unsealed project case or just on an unprotected PC board * indicator light on transmitter ***No excessive time lag !!!Con's;*Indicator light hard to see in bright daylight * transmitter is NOT sealed to make it splash proof of water proof * The IN (yellow) and OUT (white) wires on the receiver were reversed on the unit I received (no big deal)As long as you test to confirm which wires (yellow or white) provide the correct signal to energize the windlass solinoid IN & OUT relays, this unit will work fine.I tested my unit out to 65 feet and it worked perfectly with close to zero latency. The indicator lamp flashes on start up and shut down. The indicator shows a slow steady flashing when on standby and flashes rapidly when in or out button is depressed. The transmitter uses a LR23A 12volt battery like many garage door opener controllers do. I don't know how the unit will last over time, but it has the features that I've been looking for especially the outo OFF after inactivity.
