I needed something that would both warm and cover my sensitive ears while also providing protection from the sun. I have lupus and am very sensitive to the sun and to the cold, and when I tie this hat under my chin, it does the job well. With my massive sunglasses, I look a bit goofy, but I look like that in about every other combo of hat and glasses, too, so I don't mind. The texture of the hat was unexpected as it does not look like a rain hat. It will keep me dry, though. I machine washed it immediately before wearing, and it held up nicely. The only criticism I have is that the ties are not finished off and will fray, but at this price point, I am happy to finish them myself.

Nice hat. Nice coral color. Has ear flaps to protect ears. Is water resistant for cold rainy days.

Cheap, ugly, and extremely warm. Looks silly, but if I wear it in awful weather, no one will notice except to be jealous.

I was surprised this hat was so attractive since it was so functional and warm. It was not tight, which I liked since it did not flatten my hair--no hat hair!

Other than the fact that this hat makes me look like Provenza from "Rizzoli and Isles," it's a nice hat. It's warm and well-made. I've worn it in the rain and it's water-resistant (not waterproof). The ear warmers zip on/off. When they're on, you can tie the hat under your chin. If you have a lot of hair, this hat might be a bit tight. However, if you have thin, fine hair like me, it might be a little loose unless it's tied on. Since our weather has been mild this year, I usually wear it without the ear warmers. But I don't wear it if it's windy without them since it might blow off my head.

This cap/hat is nicely warm with ear cover. Only thing that is troubling is that it sits too low on my head to where I need to tilt my head back to see straight ahead. Otherwise okay.

String tie that doesn't hold well plus hat is just too big and freezing wind comes right through no matter if you tie it as far as it will go. I'm a women with a normal size head too and wonder how this could possibly fit a young girl.
