Our home was built in the late 1960's. The original cedar shingle siding was dated, worn and required either painting or replacement. We chose to replace it, and did so with Hardie Plank. We took the opportunity to replace all the exterior fitments on the home as-well (mailslots, door knobs, door knockers, door bell buttons, house numbers, exterior lights, etc...).The main entry of our home has a magazine style (13") mailslot in the front door and we chose to install a Schlage Front Entry Door handle on it as-well. We purchased both the Deltana 13 1/8-Inch Mail Slot and the Victorian Design Door Knocker to help accent the new door handle on our front door. The Satin Nickel finish on both Deltana products are a close match to the Satin Nickel finish on the Schlage Greenwich Exterior Handleset.The Deltana Knocker includes two screws that are pre-scored for shortening them to the correct length for the thickness of your door. We actually had a brass version of this same knocker already installed, so our installation was very easy...· Choose the proper length for the screws· Use a pair of plyers to 'break' the shaft of both screws at the proper score lines· Place the included finish washers on both screws· Insert the top screw through the door· Start threading the top screw into the top of the knocker and run-down until nearly snug· Place the lower screw through the door· Start threading the screw onto the lower portion of the knocker and continue until snug· 'Snug' the top screwAll done...
