Couldn’t get both keepers back on the valve. Would not compress spring straight.

The tool doesn't compress the springs evenly. So they bind against valves making the keepers get pinched andhard to remove or reinstall. I ended up making my own tool.

When I got this I was concerned that it would scratch up the valve gasket sealing surface on the head, but I put a rag on the surface under the tool and it worked with no issues. I put grease on the threads and the washers to keep it from galling, and also found that it works better with the flat surface down touching the spring cap instead of the machined slot, the slot was a little narrow and was digging into the spring cap. Flat side down and greased it worked quick and easy. If the threaded rod wears out it will be easy to replace if needed.

Worked as intended for both sets of heads with factory springs. Keeping the threads oiled will keep it from striping. mild wear but good piece for the price compared to the big name tool.

I had to rebuild the 5.3L v8 in my 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. Part of the build was replacing the valve springs and the valve stem seals so that I could run a performance camshaft. With a little grease on the screw threads andvwashers this tool had made short work on getting the job done. I have two other LS series motors that will eventually need some work, so this tool will definitely come in handy when I begin the rebuild process on both of them.
