Used 4 times since I bought it. last couple of times it would heat but stop heating. tried again just doesn't heat at all. Guess it helps to but the insurance. Evidently the makers know you will need, since this is not meant to last much pass 6 months

Best fryer I've ever had. Gets HOT in about 15 minutes and is able to maintain temperature which allows for faster cooking. *WARNING* There is a shut-off button under the bottom of the control unit. If it isn't seated correctly the unit will not turn on. The only bad thing i found is that the thermostat is off by about 10 degrees. The fryer is built like a commercial unit and it has a really long thick power cord. Worth the money!

Easy to use easy to clean heats up fast very easy to drain oil. does take some tine to cool down. Overall I think it works great especially for the price.

This fryer is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to drain. It feels well made and can cook a lot of food. The only limitation to golden brown perfection is the wall outlet. 1700W can't keep the oil at set temperature when lots of water is boiling, so keep that in mind when portioning fries.

This unit it large, holds 2 gallons to get the fill line in between min and max. The unit heats up in about 30 mins, but won't get much above 360. I've contacted the seller about it, they seem to not understand English very well, or care that the unit won't heat up to what's advertised. I would pass on this unit if you need your oil temps to get closer to 400. The unit works just ok otherwise. I suspect you'd be hard pressed to find a 120v deep fryer that can get to near 400 degrees.

First off, the manual is in appallingly poor English. You shouldn't have high expectations there. My wife should get a job editing manuals in English for manufacturers like this. But not that big a deal.Secondly, they advertise 1750 Watts, but the rating label on the unit says 1700 watts. All of these sellers lie and obfuscate the truth, so caveat emptor. Last vendor I bought a unit from sent an entirely different unit, less power & smaller. If this is the only deviation from the ad, I can live with it. Again, should not be a huge problem.A couple of the edges on the lid are sharp. They wisely blunted most of them by folding the edge over, but there are still a few edges that could easily cut your hand if you are not careful. I would assume this is a common problem with this type of fryer, but I don't know.Legs are short. I will not be putting this directly on a Formica counter. I assume it will get hot enough to damage the Formica. I'll put an insulated pad and an aluminum with a lip pan over that, and put the fryer on top of that.Next I will clean and test out the unit. Looks fairly simple to clean. This review will be updated later.UPDATE 10-1-22:Have used it once to make wings & fries. It did MUCH better job of maintaining temp than my large Presto pot fryer. Basket is nice size, so I gradually tried larger & larger batches. Conclusion: this is as close to what I wanted as I could find without needing higher voltage outlet. Not 100% ideal, but I'm very happy with it.CLEANING: Most probably will figure out, but in case it might help someone here's what I did:[NOTE: Clean before using! (duh!)]1) leave it covered and unplugged until oil fully cools2) Drain the oil out as much as possible. I drain into a chinois strainer with a large paper filter so as to reuse the oil a couple times.3) Take out the heating element protector piece and then carefully tilt the electronic head back so the element can drip off the oil. Wash lid & protector while waiting.4) CAREFULLY wash the heating element up to the top of where it was submerged making sure not to get the electronics wet. This is the only step that's a bit of hassle. But it's not hard.5) Wipe down the exterior of the head with a slightly damp sponge that is soapy always keeping electronics dry. Wipe again with a slightly damp paper towel to remove soap, then a dry one.6) Spray out as much gunk as you can from the tank with hot water. Then add your grease- busting dish soap (we use Dawn) and hot water. Let soak briefly (shouldn't need long if you clean after each use). Scrub surfaces with plastic scrubber that won't scratch the stainless steel. Run some sudsy water through the drain and then start rinsing with hot water, making sure no soap remains in tank or drain.6) I recommend hand drying all stainless with soft towel to avoid (ironically) water stains.I know this sounds like a lot of work, but considering the size of this fryer it went amazingly fast.

Makes the best fries. The oil volume is large, but oil lasts longer due to volume and the design of this fryer. I would buy again!

Are you looking for a larger professional fryer from a good company, well you found it! I spent Xtra time researching fryers this time around after having such big problems with my last unit. This fryer stood out from the pack having its nice double loop burner & reset button on top where it should be, add the very nice hd drain valve & a nice pro grade basket too boot I knew I couldn't beat it! It's quality is even nicer in person than pics show trust me! Pros: Its very easy to clean with a drain valve. I love it! Has 5 pieces total so cleanings easy. Has stay cool handles on Lid (1) & on its HD Basket (2). Has HD Valve to drain oilHas a Burner Sheild (3) between basket & burner to keep fries in bottom from burning. You Tilt its Control Panel/Burner assembly (a one piece assembly) in the Up position so oil drips back in pan. The Control Panel/Burner assembly lifts right off its Tank (5). Reading it sounds like a lot more to deal with than it is, but its super easy cleaning this fryer! The bottom one piece tank is light making transportand cleaning an absolute breeze. Compared to my old fryers I had to carry the tank still filled with oil & pour the oil out this fryer with a drain is just heaven, I'll never struggle with that again! This fryer is even easier to clean than my small fryer was. Having the reset button on front panel not hidden on its back so you wont have to move this fryer around if it trips is great. Only one I saw with this option. Ive never reset this one yet but my old ones I reset (a lot) & button being on back I got burnt a lot. You just cant beat this fryer, but I just love how it holds the burner assembly straight up for you so oil drips back in its tank unlike my others I had to prop their burner up with something to drip their oil off burners. This fryer just rules! It has a lighted power switch plus another power light & a temp light to show temps ready. Having a nicer pro grade basket also helps make it a better fryer than others on the market. But wow, the big double loop burner element heats faster and recovers much quicker to maintain heat better loading frozen food in it. Its a fantastic design! The Neg: Its "Big" but thats a Pos too..lol.My power switch "light" burned out on second use. The power switch still operates fine, switch itself just stopped lighting up. But this unit has a small round power light too so a lighted switch isn't needed anyway. But I contacted Valgus so they knew this happens and they offered my choice of a full free return/refund or $10 off my next Amazon order witch is the price of a switch sold here. I took their $10 switch offer. Its a common switch and the back control panel is easly removable so Its a quick 10 min fix. Valgus had no other reports of this issue they said. Valgus stepped right up for me and most fryer makers have no after sale support at all. You can read countless reviews on fryers stating makers of other fryers failed to help customers & most say they can't even contact their maker for support. Im very happy with this fryer after months of use it still performs flawlessly (use several times weekly). Being a larger fryer (see pics) it takes about 2 gallons plus 1qt of oil to fill so be sure you have space for it. Holding this much oil takes nearly 20 minutes to fully heat but thats 10 to15 min faster than my old fryers this size reached ready temp.So I'm a Happy Pappy!Update: 2/22/2024 Again Id like to Thank the Valgus Team for building such a nice reliable fryer! Im on here ordering oil again just thought I'd post an update coming up on my 2 year mark. We still use this fryer about 3 times a week & twice that often counting holidays/parties. This fryer always performed excellent, its still a very reliable appliance. Id buy this same fryer again in a second if it stopped today. Best deal for Size/Build Quality/Price/Performance, throw in the Valgus Corp Support too? Its a guaranteed Winner Winner Fish & fries for dinner!
