Aluminum Engine Coolant Water Outlet Housing Kit How it works ?

  • Coolant housing or water outlet serves as the connection point between engine and upper radiator hose.It may be made of metal, plastic, or resin, depending on vehicle’s manufacturer. In reality, metal is a precarious material. As being susceptible to rust from exposure to high levels of water, metal can become warped over time, and also splinter-off metallic shavings into cooling system. When your vehicle's hood will be sizzling and smoking hot, you need to replace it in time.
  • The engine coolant water outlet with sensor connects the engine to the radiator for the circulation of coolant maintaining ideal engine temperature which prevents the engine from overheating and eventually causing severe damage to the engine. A water outlet serves as the link between your vehicle's engine and the upper radiator hose. Usually bolted at the top of your vehicle's water pump housing, helps keep your vehicle's thermostat in place while protecting it from various debris.

Steps to Replace the Engine Coolant Outlet:

Step 1: After waiting for the engine to cool down, disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal
Step 2: Find the location of the water outlet, follow the path of the engine manifold, starting from the radiator and the coolant tank, and after seeing the radiator hose, locate the housing on its top area
Step 3: Before disassembling the old water outlet, drain the coolant in the radiator to avoid overflow or leakage during replacement
Step 4: With the help of a wrench and a screwdriver, loosen and remove the bolt that fixes the water outlet to the engine manifold, take out the washer of the old water outlet
Step 5: Remove the bolt from the shell, remove the washer, and replace it with a new one
Step 6: Install the new water outlet on the top of the radiator hose
Step 7: Starting from the outlet gasket, reinstall the other components that were disassembled in the reverse direction
Step 8: Refill the reservoir with new coolant, start the engine and check for leaks

So far, so good. Direct fitment, easy installation. It comes with 10mm bolts to replace the stock E10 inverted torx bolts. Should be well worth the extra $10 for the aluminum replacement over the cheap OEM plastic.

I am a retired mechanic so the install and such for me was pretty easy and it is much better than the factory plastic junk. My only problem is the coolant sensor. It is either bad or the wrong one for my car as it set of the engine light and now the fan stays on high all the time. I have ordered a new sensor but have not had time to put it in or the weather has sucked. So overall its great but I wish I thought ahead and pulled the old sensor out of the old outlet... That stupidity is on me.

On OEM part, the screws are entraped which makes it impossible to lose the screws in the engine compartment, these screws come seperately. These screws are also longer than the OEM which made me nervous that they would hit a bottom and allow a leak. Drove for a few miles and didnt seem to be an issue so far. We will see in the coming days. If this review remains without an edit, then the part works fine!

The ABS (or whatever) original part I had on my Cruze broke off whwrw the big intake hose connects, just behind the lip. I went to the dealership and they asked for $470 to replace it and the hose coming from the plastic tank. I did not have that kind of money for this and I bought this part and the special start socket. It took me 45 min and I am not a mechanic. The small hose they said it cannot be salvaged when you take out the outlet was ok and not needing replacement. All in all I had this on the car Since August and no leaks, nothing. Very happy with the purchase. I will add a pic installed later.
