Replaced a latch type, this works better from both sides of gate. Screws a little small for 4x4's; so did use longer deck screws.

Bought this to use on a gate for our deck. Very easy to use and install. It's been installed for six months and we have had no issues with it. It latches well and still coated in its original paint.

Took me a while to purchase it as the photos look too thin and might break easy. After a few review reading took the risk and these are actually very good and durable locks. I like that it comes with the outside pull string. Screws are long enough to keep them in place. Sturdy and easy to install too.

I had to do a bit of filing to allow the latch to close by itself when ouching the gate closed. Inaccurate design. Works great after my modification.

This latch is indeed made of heavy duty steel. It is overcoated black with paint or powder coating. I am using this on the gate access to my backyard. Mounting was easy--the latch is mounted on the edge of a 2X4, and the bolt is mounted on the gate. The gate latches easily and firmly as the gate is closed. The added cord for unlatching from the front of the gate is a nice addition (not every latch unit comes with one). For best function, the bolt unit must be tightly screwed in place.
