What an ingenious design! I have been looking for, then trying to imagine my own version of this, for years. I have vaulted ceilings in my house that push the limits of fear and safety for me on my 8-foot ladder. Then I found this. It took me all of 10 minutes to install (scariest part is making sure it is lined up correctly before pushing the side pieces on with that very sticky tape). I had put off cleaning and painting a mildewed ceiling in a bathroom skylight because I just didn't feel safe on the top rungs of the ladder. Just did it today and felt safe the entire time! Something secure to hold onto allows me to get the full height out of my ladder. Only concern is the plastic tabs on the spring-loaded locks. I fear they might be flimsy and break at some time in the future. The rest seems well engineered. Thanks for making this, whoever invented it!

I would highly recommend this product. I use my stepladder around the house and in the yard for washing windows, cleaning gutters etc. Prior to purchasing this product I felt unstable on the ladder. I now have something to hang onto when using the ladder and when you get to the upper steps you have something to lean against. It was very easy to install and only took a few minutes. The only issue I had was the back clamps were a bit loose, but this was quickly resolved by pinching the clamp together prior to installing.

This acts as a stability extension so that an 8ft ladder easily becomes as a 9 ft ladder, or even 10ft. Stretching out this attachment 1 or 2 ft is pretty stable for a hand rail, 3 ft is a bit shaky so don't recommend full-extension. But this makes a big difference as I change bulbs in 12 ft ceiling, and it has a small top tray as well, which is fairly handy. Installation is not difficult and I'm pretty confident I'll not be needing a taller ladder with this accessory. Only suggestion might be to make it a bit wider rails, but then for the price paid, it's a great addition overall, definitely a huge help.

I am very happy with this product. It installed fairly easily and I can now safely use the top step on my 4footer. While it doesn’t give a feeling of super duty strength, it is plenty strong enough and more than adequate. The only thing about this product that I would say needs improvement are the little pin retractors that are used to set the height of the bar. They’re Too small even for my small hands, which makes them hard to operate them.

Easily attached to my Werner fiberglass ladder and provided balance climbing upper rungs on my 8' ladder to reach a high ceiling. It was firmly attached but I didn't lean on it much. More importantly, just a light touch provided the balance and sense of security to use both my hands above my head.

First off, this is the only such item on the market, so I HAD to make it work. It arrived with a significant safety-related defect. One of the spring-loaded locking pins had fallen off the device and was rattling loose in the carton. The extension would obviously not work without this pin. Of the various possible makeshift fixes, I chose to cement the pin assembly back into its recess with construction cement - a questionable solution because, should the bond loosen, the rail would telescope in, possibly causing a fall. As another reviewer stated, "The plastic latch for the extension rod is too flimsy, it won't last even a year... then what?" I installed this on a 12 ft. fiberglass ladder and, as the instructions stated, it did not fit using the provided clamps. I used heavy M4 hose clamps instead which, along with the very secure adhesive, made the installation feel adequately secure - although the clamps slightly deformed the ladder rail, reducing the adhesive grip area. I subsequently replaced the clamps with 5/16" nuts and bolts for a very secure installation. There was no effort to blunt any sharp edges, so care must be taken when using this device; one careless move could leave a gash on your hand. The design concept for this product is certainly competent, but the execution leaves much to be desired. What if I did not have tools and hardware at hand? It would have been useless. I suggest that the manufacturer address the safety issues raised herein and by other reviewers, and then replace their FBA stock with the updated units to avoid liability.

Less than 5 mins to setup. Feeling much safer now when climbing up to the top step of the ladder to install heavy items.

Great invention. It makes my ladder look like a podium step ladder. Bars are a little bit shaky to hold, and will not be as firm as a podium ladder, but better than nothing. The telescopic feature and the no drill assembly makes me very happy knowing I don't have to drill my ladder and it will not change my ladder's length when storing it. If I build one made of wood, I will end up drilling my ladder and will not have a telescopic feature, so this product is the real deal. Despite being shaky, I still give 5 stars because it is an essential equipment for my step ladder, and it is well built.

Been following the design build on this since conception. Solid build, strong, total game changer. I'm up on ladders daily and the Ladderail has added a whole new level of safety in my day to day routines. Will definitely be adding more to my fleet fiberglass and aluminum ladders. Super easy to install and very strong. Zero regrets, worth every penny! Just follow the instructions/videos and you'll be up and running in no time. The tool tray is versatile across many trades tasks.

I'm only 5'-2" and I need every extra inch I can get out of my 6-foot a-frame ladder. This safety handrail attachment works really well to allow me to safely stand on that top step when I'm working on a project. Watch the videos on the listing and you'll see what I mean. I didn't have any trouble installing it on my Werner a-frame ladder. I installed the 2 brackets on the ladder as described in the easy instructions, added the clips, and then assembled and installed the handrail. Pretty easy. I installed the brackets so that the tops of them were level with the top of the ladder instead of sitting them a bit higher as the instructions showed. I leave the handrail section off the ladder most of the time, and this way I have a flat surface to set stuff on. But when I need the handrail for safety, it's easy to pop it in the brackets. As far as the brackets being secure, I don't know why that other reviewer said the clips broke when he folded his ladder. On my ladder there's 1/4" between the front legs and back legs of the ladder when it's folded, more than enough room for those clips to clear the back legs of the ladder. I figure if I feel like the brackets become loose in the future, I can drill a couple of holes and use bolts to hold those brackets on. Anyway, I like this thing, and I give it a thumbs up!

I installed as per instructions and when I folded the A-frame ladder it put pressure on the retaining clips and they failed. the clips are light gage aluminum and they are weak. the only thing that held the brackets on was double sided tape. This is not an OSHA certified product.
