Ok so I bought a bunch of these & put them all over my house & furniture when I was potty training my 2 shih-tzu doggies. I used them for a while & it saved my furniture & the areas that I didn’t want them to pee at. This things was a brilliant idea!

I love my boys but I don’t want them on my counters or table and I placed these around. They definitely keep the boys off of where I want them. I’ve definitely given them a good knock by accident and they hurt but it’s hard-ish plastic. Rebuying because they have gotten dirty and some slightly damaged.

I put it on the TV stand so the cats can't stand on it or claw at the TV while I'm trying to watch. They are very sharp so caution does need to be applied. Use sparingly for best results, the goal should be to make one path less comfortable than another.

I needed something that would deter our large dogs from getting on the furniture when we are not there, and these work! While 16 seemed like a really large number when I ordered them, it actually takes 12 to cover our two full-sized couches and a sectional. Then I use the other four to keep them out of rooms upstairs where we need to keep doors open because of the way our upstairs is heated. They stack easily into a relatively small space when not in use. They are easy to clean (we just get dust) - just put a little dish soap on each one, use the sprayer on the kitchen faucet to get the soapy water all over it, and rinse. Turn upside-down to dry. Do NOT use a hair dryer - it will melt them. Kinda' embarrassing to admit, but I can share that from experience. Very versatile things - I'm glad I got them.

These are wicked sharp!! I actually store them under my small loveseat in the kitchen to keep them from accidentally hurting anything or anyone. They are fabulous for keeping pets off your furniture. Highly recommend.

I purchased these only to return them. I previously bought the kind that is more like hard rubber points but liked the fact that these were clear. They were so sharp that if my dog attempted to jump on the cough, it would of pierced his foot. There is no forgiveness of the sharp points. This would be a great deterrent to keep animals/critters out of a garden, but is too dangerously sharp for pets or people.

My cat peeled up the edges and eventually worked it loose. Took him a week or 2 before he figured these out. We tried sticking them on the door instead, but he was able to expose a weakness and swiped downward to fold the spikes into a harmless position. Probably need something heavier and with more substantial spikes.

We have a cat that's a real jerk and loves to be where he's not supposed to be. One day we found him walking around the house with bright blue streaks on him. He was under the automatic dish soap dispenser, and that karma didn't work out so well for him because it was a long bath to get all that soap out. We weren't sure if these spikey mats were going to work, but thought it was worth a try. Let me tell you, these mats might just be some formed plastic, but they are super sharp feeling. They're painful to me, and they leave little dots all over my palm, but they aren't drawing blood. We were waiting to see him take his first steps on them, but also worried they might be too painful. He likes to sit his butt on the living room side tables, you know, where you put food, drink, your phone, and you know cats don't use toilet paper. So we put a spikey mat on the side table and in about 30 seconds he jumped up on it. He froze, and then jumped off and ran off...score 1 for the spikey mat. Next time he stood on the arm of the couch and put his foot out on it, didn't like that, score 2 for the spikey mat. We soon ordered a second package of these mats and they worked great, for awhile. For weeks we had these spikey mats on every surface, then one day, like a child learning that [spoiler alert]....Santa isn't real, he just stopped caring about them and proceeded as he liked. He'd jump right up on the spikey mats and walk around like they were nothing...score 1 for the cat. He'd go from one spikey mat covered surface to another, having his afternoon parkour jaunt about the house. Sigh. So I thought, let's put tin foil on top of the mat, and the Costco sized roll of it, so it's larger than the spikey mat, overhanging surfaces, and adds a visual deterrent. It's been weeks again, and so far, that is holding. He still goes about the house every day, examining surfaces longingly with thoughts of parkouring. He's an old cat and has quite an expensive monthly pain management shot to eliminate his arthritis pain, which only makes him think he can still parkour without consequences. Don't be mad at us for using these mats, we're trying to protect this old cat who doesn't realize his physical limitations. My only complaint about these mats is that the border of each mat needs to be cut down. You want to overlap the mats for longer surfaces, but the border on the mats is too large and then they don't nestle down onto the next mat right. I had to hand cut down all of the sides on these mats, but it was worth it to layer then as a longer sheet of connected mats. When I ordered this set of 16 mats the price was $29.99. These mats were well worth this price and we ordered a second set as well.
